^omg I know, listening to this soundtrack made me realize JUST how much Wicked did NOT show off Norberts talent at all. He is SO beyond the character of Fiyero its not even funny :P Which goes to show just how amazing he really is, because um... there have been very, VERY few really good other fiyeros, and even the others who have been really good are NO norbert

Oh, God. I really hope Sherie and Norbert are willing to do this, and I want to see it ON Broadway for once.
I wonder if they would. I saw a couple of production photos on playbill.com, and all I feel is intensely insane love for this show, even though it is very depressing how it ends. I have to skip Nobody Needs to Know because it just depresses me. I even deleted it off my iPod. And when I read wikipedia's summary, I just wanted to cry because he says "I think I could be in love with someone like you" which he says in Shiksa Goddess, and how a few lyrics in Moving Too Fast are to the tune of Still Hurting. I think that's gorgeous, but I don't get how they mention Jerry Seinfeld and a museum with dinosaurs in The Next Ten Minutes. What does that mean?

The show FLOPPED Off-Broadway. it got mediocre reviews. They could not sell enough tickets to keep it running in a 300 seat theatre. What makes you think it could possibly be successful ON Broadway???
There were a lot of reasons why this show failed. Among them, it was not at a prime location and had a pending lawsuit hanging over it. It should have opened uptown but was forced to settle for off-off broadway. Alas, just as it started to take off, it closed. Sherie Rene Scott mentioned in an article that ticket sales were improving just as the show closed. Perhaps a better of word of mouth would have pulled more people to the show and it would have done better. The show certainly attracts a lot of fans.

wow, I had no idea it did so badly!! Thats really kind of ironic, just because SOO many people seem to love the recording! haha. I mean, both on here and on other boards, it seems to be in many peoples top 5 lists of their favorites its definitely in mine anyway :P But it just seems very popular now... so I'm surprised to hear it did so poorly. I bet if they did bring it back it'd do a whole lot better! Though, honestly I think it'd work better still off broadway than on broadway. Its just such an intimate show- like ttB and see what I wanna see, I feel like it'd just work better off broadway. On broadway, it might get a little lost among all the other huge productions I think.

Well, I think it's only popular now because people actually know who Norbert and Sherie are. No one knew who they were then, they were just young stars on the rise! But now that they have more fans people love TL5Y.
A savvy producer could take this and another show and run them in rep, similar to the Pasadena Playhouse (but not with I DO I DO, not a great show to pair this with, even though both have compatible topics).

I saw a local Baltimore production of The Last 5 Years - didn't love it, but liked it enough. After I saw it, I started listening to the O(off)BCCR and LOVE it.

I just saw my university's production of this show, and....wow! The story, the music, the lighting, the direction, the voices! After it ended, I just wanted to sit there for a few hours and soak it all in. I would have loved to see the original on Off-Broadway. I bought the recording a month ago, so at least I can hear it all over again tonight!

It could be done in rep with Tick Tick Boom - a good designer cold come up with a set that would work for both shows.

I, (like pretty much every other musical theatre fanatic I know) ADORE this show and wish I could see/ be in a live production of it. I worship the soundtrack, and love both Norbert and Sherie on there. However, I got bored one night and decided to search for videos of it on youtube, and after watching about 90% of the original Production (with both Sherie and Norb) I was surprised that I was a little disappointed. Personally, even though they both sound amazing on the CD, I feel that Norb steals the show as far as the OCR is concerned, but after watching the videos, I feel that as far as the acting went, Sherie totally stole the show. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE them both, it was just interesting to me how it kind of balanced out.
I'm sure merely watching the videos can't begin to compare to seeing them live though. I'm sure they were both equally amazing.
I started listening to Still Hurting and I just finished the CD.
Wow, its so easy to get hooked on.
Its seriously the show that reminded me how much I love theatre. It has the perfect score and is so amazing and memorable....love this show so much..............
This show is AMAZING! I am so glad they released this recording despite the fact that the show was a flop (Makes me think they should release some other recordings as well...). I love the way the show is set up and I love Norbert and Sherie. They are absolutely superb. "Still Hurting" and "Shiksa Goddess" are definitely my favorite songs. A little drama. A little comedy. Just about sums up this show in those two songs. And this show is so good that it is one of the only shows that I loved after I heard it just once. Actually, just one song. I remember I was washing the dishes and I turned my iPod to this new CD I had bought, and after "Still Hurting" was not even half-way over, I was like "this is good!" And that never happens with me!
"^omg I know, listening to this soundtrack made me realize JUST how much Wicked did NOT show off Norberts talent at all."
Wicked doesn't show off anyones talent except the two leads. I love this recording but, I think this recording takes something away from her voice. On the videos I have watched Sherie's voice sounds better in the theater than on the recording. Don't get me wrong, Sherie is one of my favorite performers. It's strange how so many people love this recording but it flopped off-broadway.

jason robert brown is a genius. an absolute genius.
i have been so in love with this recording...i dont think ive gone a day without listening to it in over a year.
i never realized people had the same opinion of it--im so glad other people appreciate it yoo. i felt like it was a tad neglected.
I'm glad i did a search for this before T started a new thread.
It took me awhile to put this cast recording on my new iPod but now that I have I truly don't know why I didn't do it sooner! I absolutely LOVE this show and was lucky enough to see it ten times with Sherie and Norbert. It is an amazing show all around.
Funny story. One reason I recently put this cast recording on my Ipod is because every couple of months my mother (who I DRAGGED to see the show) will call me from her car while she is listening to the CD and leave a little bit of it on my voicemail.

One of my favourite scores!
Just love "Summer in Ohio" and "I'm a part of that" - only thing that annoys me: Kathy has much better songs to sing.
Why am I a man?
