So it took me forever to get this cd for no particular reason, and I FINALLY just decided to get it yesterday, and I listened to it right away and am now COMPLETELY in love with it :)
I can ramble on and on and on about this (trust me, I already have on some other boards), but I'll just spare you guys my rambling and say- Its effing INCREDIBLE!! acting? some of the best I have EVER heard on cd. seriously (norbert is... probably one of the greatest actors ever. I now realize that wicked is VERY VERY beneath his abilities, acting AND singing wise). Singing? Un. Freaking. Believable. Orgasmic beyond belief. The music? just holy cow.
aaand so yeah, I just had to make this thread to gush about one of my newest obsessions
(ok, so I still rambled I little.. I apologize! haha)

this is probably one of the best scores for any musical i have heard
and having Sherie and Norbert together on one cd...you cant get much better than that! :)
favorite song would have to be "A Summer in Ohio"
that cracks me up everytime :P
so yeah, i really wish i could have seen this live! it really is amazing!

I also wish I could have seen it. The songs were great, and I especially like Norbert and Sherie's voices together. I could totally see them as a couple, playing these parts.
This show deserves some love.
Truly, truly deserves it.

if every show had sherie and norbert in it, the world would be a much, much, MUCH better place. Thats all I'm gonna say. hehe
cause they're like.. two of the best actors AND singers on broadway individually, so put them TOGETHER and its like... ahhh!

It's an incredible show to perform in, too. Two member cast, solo after solo...and a surprising number of layers to find in there (at least, that's what I found doing Jamie).

I like the Last 5 Years too, though I've never seen it.
My favorite songs are "Climing Uphill" and "Shiksa Godess". How about you?

Posted: 10/12/06 at 4:52pmThere is this one song in Dirty Rotten scoundrels where Norbert sings I love you and the the song ends, I always have to pretend hes saying I love you Kathy, because Im so used to Sherie and him singing together

"If I Didn't Believe in You" kills me...Norbert's voice is so beautiful.
And "the Next Ten Minutes" combines their voices so magnificently.

I absolutely love it. Jason Robert Brown is a brilliant writer.
"The Next 10 Minutes" is my favorite.

You can thank user DirtyRottenScoundrel for getting me so into it.
I have to say I like "Moving Too Fast" the best.
I'm a pretty big fan of the last 2 minutes of "See, I'm Smiling". That rant Kathy has is so real. Gah.

I *may or may not* have this show and it *may or may not* have made me cry just by sitting in front of my computer.
I love this show to pieces, but I think I may be the only person who isn't particularly enamored of "The Schmuel Song."
If you liked L5Y, I highly recommend Parade. It is my favorite of Brown's scores, which is really saying something.

It's a fantastic score and Sherie and Norbert give great performances
The one downside is that I will NEVER pass for a "Shiksa Goddess"

Posted: 10/12/06 at 5:24pmI love this show too and would have loved to see it. They are both so amazing. The ending of "A Miracle Would Happen" is just so beautiful and delicious - I love it! Come back to Broadway L5Y!

Posted: 10/12/06 at 5:43pmThis, too, is my favorite show of the moment (actually, it's been my favorite ever since I firsheard the score. Unlike some shows you have to listen to a bit, I got hooked on this immediately). I think it's such a great show for local theater as well. I mean, you have to have some VERY talented people, but it's written so "real" that it's an actor's dream to pull off each layer of the character. I think Sherie and Norbert sound fantastic together, though I am partial to Lauren Kennedy as Cathy. Has anyone her the two tracks from the show on her CD? I love her Goodbye Until Tomorrow, which remains to be my favorite song (as well as the last little bit of See I'm Smiling. I love singing along with that- it's great to get out frustration :)).

Wonderful music, wonderful show. However, when I saw it, Sherie had some AWFUL acting. Just her facial expressions and the way she said some of the lines...
Norbert on the other hand, had a fantastic performance. And like I said, fantastic show overall. I would love to see it again. ^_^

I could talk for days about how much I love L5Y. Just... amazing.
It seems like it would be an amazing show to perform in as well.
