It was announced Tuesday that Stage Entertainment's Joop van den Ende will host a new production of the show. Hopefully it will be better in terms of design elements. Bob Crowley is designing the costumes this time and Glenn Casal is directing not Tatiana Noginova and Zambello. The role of Ariel will most likely be cast reality tv just like they did with Mary Poppins

Thanks for these! It looks soooo beautiful.
WOW! Now, that is more how I envisioned the show. I would love the opportunity to see it.
Id love to see a tour of this "version".

I love how this looks so far and I think they are making some great design improvements (this coming from someone who loved the Broadway designs - even the heelys). However, I do not like that new logo. "THE LITTLE" font is too plain & the MERMAID, although a tad nautical, does not exactly express the "Disney-ness" or fantasy of the movie/musical's previous logo designs. The Ariel silhouette is a nice touch, but it is a little to rigid looking. Looks like a half-done first draft.
Well, the logo is on a cake. I doubt it's a finished product. It looks no worse than the dull Broadway logo.

Yeah, and on the photo wall. I really hope they don't stick with it. But isn't the show supposed to open soon? I really like the original movie teaser poster. It seems like that is sort of what they were going for, but they could do better. I mean, most people could do better than that on Photoshop.

^I've heard that as well. As unlikely as this is, I would love to see them give it another go in New York. I feel the material is very deserving of a fantastic Broadway run. But like I said, that is probably a pipe dream (although not completely out of the question). I'd say it will tour.
Besides the fact, I have never understood why Disney has not built a really nice theatre in Walt Disney World and opened one of their closed shows or another production of a currently running one there. I feel it would be a big hit with the many tourists they get.

Granted this is well-received, I'd be totally be down for a small national tour (maybe 15-20 cities). This show has huge tour potential.
The revised show will be the touring version, not sure about the design.
Isn't the Papermill production going to be based off of this?
I always thought it was in Denmark.
It seems too that they will resort to alot more flying thistime around rather than those silly rolling shoes

Is it wrong of me to of loved the Broadway production?
My only problem with it was the MOTHER OF PEARL everywhere!!!! Even the trident was pearl!?!?!? Honestly if they took some Gold Spray paint to the set it would have been lovely..as well as flounders costume, which was a disaster.
The mermaid costumes were great the heelies were ingenious' and Ursala's costume was AMAZINg!!
And it has the most beautiful score I have ever heard...
And "country's" is spelled "countries"!

That vertical hair wig that is supposed to simulate her hair floating in water looks TERRIBLE. She looks like a troll doll! That needs to go ASAP. So far, I'm liking most of the Broadway costumes better...
