I kind of hate everything about the Netherlands production.
where did you have the photos from of the musical?

I understand the basic idea behind the cone wigs, I just wish that they had been shaped a little more and not so perfectly conical. The underwater up-do effect works much better for Triton and Ursula merely by the hair not coming to that perfect point above their heads. Even if the mermaids were constantly floating downwards their hair would have a lot more shape to it and not be coming to a point as they went down (if they were actually underwater).
As far as I know it's Number 2 in ticket sales on Musicals.nl right behind Wicked. And it's a tour so it's still playing

You know, I take my initial opinion of the show back. It actually looks visually fantastic in comparison to the original broadway production. The only thing I'm still not a fan of of the costumes/wigs. Ursula's just blows my mind. Who designed that?!
I do love the storybook theme of the whole show and Chef Louis's kitchen is especially pleasing. I also love how they did the Gul's. So cute!

Interesting choice to move "Fathoms Below" after "Daughters of Triton" and "The World Above." Something must be going on onstage, though, to fill all of that instrumental after the overture.

the more i see of this production, the worse it looks. here are a few of my questions...
-why is ursula holding a disco ball shell up in the air?
-why is prince eric riding around in a toy boat?
-why are some scenes performed in front of drops that resemble storybook pages?

- The shell is just ugly
- Because the basic idea is to create a 'shoebox diorama' effect. But the effect is only in the sea scene's. So it makes no sense at all!
- It's not a drop of different storybook pages. There is a big storybook on stage. The turn a page to create the new set. Every thing on land, is in the story book. Don't know why, it just is..

Okay, I take back what I said about the underwater set. The only part I like is the Part of That World sets.
