"Finishing the Hat" - SITPWG
Call me strange but I find most of the songs from Wicked extremely moving. I know the show itself isnt meant to be the most tear jerking show in the world etc but I really love the lyrics and the meanings in the songs like For Good and Defying Gravity. I also love the songs from RENT, and this one play called The Flower Drum Song which has an amazing song called one hundred million miracles in it. REALLY touching play though unfortunately its relatively unknown.

FLOWER DRUM SONG is only "relatively unknown" to people under 30 who think that musical theatre began with RENT.
I mean, it's by Rodgers & Hamerstein, fer gosh sakes! Ever hear of them?

And, please don't bash, but I find a lot of the music from Wicked to be very good. I've cried during For Good and the Finale, and I can relate a lot to Defying Gravity (and even The Wizard and I, sort of)
And I'm sure I can think of a bunch of other songs, but this post is already long enough.
All I Ask of You - Phantom
I Know Him So Well - Chess
I'll Know - Guys and Dolls
Castle on a Cloud - Les Mis (it depends on who sings it- in a B'way revue I was in this summer, the kid who got assigned this song just stood there and screeched it out. But if someone has a developed voice, by all means, it's lovely.)
Mister Cellophane - Chicago
Without Love - Hairspray
I Know Where I've Been - Hairspray
For Good - Wicked (Yeah.)
Thankfully, nobody's mentioned anything from Brooklyn.

if i cant love her- beauty and the beast
a little fall of rain- les mis
suddenly seymour- little shop of horrors
the wizard and i- wicked
what you own- rent
without love- hairspray
i dont really know what the definition of "beautiful" is but in my opinion all of those songs are beautiful, and amazing. "what you own" i think is one of my top favorite broadway songs. it might even be my #1.
My "most beautiful" song isn't even really a song. It's that snatch of melody that is repeated throughout the score of THE MOST HAPPY FELLA, where Rosabella sings "I don't know nuthin' about him..."
It's so ravishingly beautiful, and even more so because it's not an entire song, just a segment of one that comes up in the score whenever the characters are singing how they really feel.
