Discuss...so far, it's predicted that IN THE HEIGHTS will win seven awards including Best Musical, Best Actor, Best Score, and Best Book.

Also, AUGUST is predicted to win six (I counted fast, I think six is right) including Best Play, Best Actress, and Best Direction and SOUTH PACIFIC is predicted to take home five incuding Best Revival and Best Direction.

What do you all think? And vote if you haven't already! I think it's interesting how much steam DeJesus and Merediz are picking up all of a sudden...

And also that hardly any PASSING STRANGE love seems to be evident.

Holla !!!! Would love to see this happen, but have love for "Xanadu" as well, and think that Beane should win for book.

Who are the 3% of NYTimes readers who are voting GREASE as the best revival of a musical, that's my question.

I think Beane should win for Book as well. It's definitely between him and Huedes but I think Beane will win a la Jeff Whitty for his much more fluffy, entertaining fun as opposed to a somewhat clunky and uneven book (Huedes = Winnie Holtzman for WICKED).

If there's an ITH sweep, though, like SA last year, book will go to Huedes.

They're picking Miranda over Paulo Szot? Interesting.

I think Miranda just might take Best Actor. It seems to be becoming more and more of a real possibility, IMO.

Looks like the closest race is lead Actor in a play, no front runner at all.

Go Rhondi Reed. I loved her performance.

Merediz is also running a good race.

Why would the book for IN THE HEIGHTS win when the book was seen as dragging the show down?

I don't think the situation is similar to WICKED, where ALL the parts-except for acting-were sort of mediocre.

I see this year's Tonys going the way of the 2005 Tonys where almost every show wins an award. I also don't see Paulo Szot losing.

I wonder if Raul will actually win after last year

Still sad to see no Sunday love. I thought Jenna Russell and Daniel Evans were the best, would love them both to take the Tony. Perhaps in a different year they would have. I hear Paulo isn't very good acting wise, but has a marvelous voice. I wish I could get a ticket to see South Pacific. Though, I am routing for Sunday in the Park to take it.

I think Raul will win. Although I don't think he deserves to. They should wait because he will undoubtedly give another really great Tony worthy performance like he did last year. And then when he does, it will be "oh well he won for THE HOMECOMING so we'll give it to so and so". I think Norton should win and Esparza should wait. His time will come.

If Jim Norton and Conleth Hill split the vote, he might. But David Pittu might win if the voters loved IS HE DEAD? (and he didn't win last year either).

I don't know... if Raul won, I think it would be sort of a "pity win"; he got very good reviews, but not great (save for Brantley's).

I still think Jim Norton is the front-runner; it's a tricky category, as none of these performances can be seen anymore. If Norton and Hill lose, I think it'll be Pittu.

I didn't see all of the performances that are nominated for featured actor in a play but Jim Norton was amazing in The Seafarer. I hope the voters don't give Esparza a pity win.

I'd love to see IN THE HEIGHTS win for it's lighting or sets although I think both will probably go to SOUTH PACIFIC.

bschneid76, I'd love for Sunday... to win in every category they're in but unfortunately, the competition is too good. Any other year though, any other year.

Not sure where you heard that. His acting is magnificent.

I think Jenna Russell deserves some sort of award. She was BREATHTAKING in the role. I really could not take my eyes off her. Daniel Evans was just so-so to me, but I think the role of George just stresses me out, but I thought her Dot was brillant. She was just so intune with everything and her relationship with George was just right, not too much sex, but not too much love, and not too much hate or annoyance.
