Hey guys, just wanted to start something here on BWW for all the RENTheads/fans! You guys can talk about the show, the movie, tours, etc. So let's get started!
I wouldn't be surprised if this thread doesn't work out. Or if there's another thread out there like this one =P

I have to imagine people will get pissed and start posting links to other threads...
I guess this is gonna die soon...hopefully not! Come on guys! *cricket noises*
haha probably...but i LOVE rent! :) and adam pascal...hehe. Okay well I love the play, the movie is just so/so...
I'll just try to keep this going, I guess...
Most people I know who've never seen the broadway show, loved it & sing the songs all the time. But people like the RENTheads & have seen the show already, it didn't seem like it was up to "their expectations." I loved it.

How many times have you all seen Rent on Broadway? How many times have you seen the movie?
I'm gonna see the play this summer. I've seen the movie a ridiculous (sp?) amount of times. Once in theaters, a large number w/ the DVD. What does everybody have to say about the current cast?

I've seen the movie wayyy too many times to count.
The 1st time I ever saw it was on broadway but I couldnt understand a word they were sayign because of the terrible micing so I went out and memorized the soundtrack and saw it again. Love it to death.

mm.. LOVE the show.. i fell in love with RENT listening to the OBC.. the movie really didn't do much for me. I didn't really like Rosario as Mimi.. but i guess the movie was ok...

I love listening to my OBC CD, I actually liked the movie. And coming from someone who has never seen the show, it added visuals to the songs.
I heard the story line of rent and thought it was cool. And then had a Best Buy gift card and bought the OBC cast recording and then I fell in love with the show.
I will try to bring this thread back to life.
I really, really have an appreciation for "REnt". It was so intersting to read Anthony Rapps book, and get his perspective on the musical during from the Workshop to Broadway. I also really like the movie!
i saw rent on broadway this summer. it wasnt jsut a musical, it was an expierance! i love rent and i listen to the movie and OBC soundtrack every day!!! and my message for life is "No Day But Today"

I heard of Rent while in line rushing for "Chicago" and listened to samples online, didn't get it. Then about a few months later I listened again and fell in love and saw the show live finally, after years of obsessing over the computer trying to get every once of Rent love I could find (you know what I mean *shifts eyes*). Now I have seen the show four times. The movie came out, everyone who had not heard Rent at all loved it while I hated it. Now apparently being a Renthead is a fad and "cool", which I am pretty sure is not what people thought of it (and me) before the movie came out. Now that a lot of the original Rentheads have expired, I feel its really important to try and bring back what Rent used to be. So I LOVE RENT! Yay!
Long Live Rent
I love Rent!!! It has changed my life for the better. I know accept everybody, no matter what race, gander, sexuality, etc.. Thank you Jonathan Larson:)

I loved the movie. Though I can see certain things that people didn't like about it, I think a lot of RENTheads were just being extremely picky and rude. But I think it was done amazingly and I'm so glad that people who never had the chance to see it on broadway now can.
I love the movie, although I've never seen the show so I can't compare them. But I waited for the movie for more than a year and when I did see it it totally met my expectations.

I've seen the show and the movie and yea, they are different to a certain extent but they both have their major advantages. I can't say which I actually liked better because there are things that work much better for both. I think that if I saw the OBC perform it, I'd say I like the stage version better but ya know...! And just think, Rentheads are extremely lucky. Look at how many times Phantom was made into a movie before it was actually made somewhat close to what the stage version is. That show has been made into so many different things, but the first time Rent is made, it is made incredibly close. We are extremely lucky. Plus, so many more people have been affected by Rent now because they can FINALLY see it. A lot of people would've never thought to see it on broadway but have seen it through the theaters and have been effected like the people who have seen it for years.
*steps off soapbox*
*edit* btw, this isn't towards the person above me..it was just a continuation of my rant, lol.

I love Rent. Broadway can forever thank Jonathan Larson for really helping to re-spark broadway when this show came out. It's such so sad that passed away, luckily he already had put this amazing show together, but I can't even imagine what else that man may have produced.
What I really love about Rent is that it isn't a perfect show but the great message, wonderful songs, and personal connection the show makes with everyone allows for those flaws to be over looked and not standout.
How I love Rent.
No Day but Today.
