Posted: 7/27/05 at 11:16amOK, since I'm stalling this thread in its tracks... In the performance of Walking Happy on the 1967 Tony Awards, star Norman Wisdom knocks over a cart filled with tin pots that comes perilously close to hitting one of the female dancers. She achieves show business immortality for adjusting herself just slightly off her mark to miss getting hit, and never losing her smile.

Bill Irwin for "Largely New York" in 1989.
&
Randy Graff for "City of Angels" in 1990.
Though the Book (Musical) category was eliminated in 1989, what was the only show that was eligable for the award (and thus pretty much why they decided against giving it out).

However, the other musicals of that season, "Chu Chem", "Legs Diamond", "Starmites" and "Welcome to the Club" were all eligible, but not honored with nomination - and wisely so.

Madame Taylor presented Best Musical to 42nd Street the same year she was appearing as Regina in The Little Foxes.

Isn't it Child's Play? I think it won five Tonys, but not Best Play. Borstal Boy won Best Play, and the year was 1970.
