Jason Robards

Eight nominations, one win for The Disenchanted.

What happens during the performance from Walking Happy on the 1967 Tony Awards that's not so happy?

OK, since I'm stalling this thread in its tracks... In the performance of Walking Happy on the 1967 Tony Awards, star Norman Wisdom knocks over a cart filled with tin pots that comes perilously close to hitting one of the female dancers. She achieves show business immortality for adjusting herself just slightly off her mark to miss getting hit, and never losing her smile.

There was no winner - the category was eliminated that year.

What 2005 Tony winner was nominated that year as best choreographer?

Bill Irwin for "Largely New York" in 1989.

&

Randy Graff for "City of Angels" in 1990.

Though the Book (Musical) category was eliminated in 1989, what was the only show that was eligable for the award (and thus pretty much why they decided against giving it out).

Technically, any musical that opened that season was eligible - "Jerome Robbins Broadway" and "Black and Blue" were ineligible due to their lack of an original book. However, the other musicals of that season, "Chu Chem", "Legs Diamond", "Starmites" and "Welcome to the Club" were all eligible, but not honored with nomination - and wisely so.

What was the sentance that Elain Strich used (and repeated alot) in her acceptance speach ( for "Elain Strich at Liberty") that probably gave the censors a heart attack?

You stumped me, Ruprecht Jr.!

For what musical did Elizabeth Taylor present the Best Musical Tony to? (Bonus question: What was her Broadway connection?)

Madame Taylor presented Best Musical to 42nd Street the same year she was appearing as Regina in The Little Foxes.

What musical won the most Tonys without winning Best Musical? Year? Categories won? What musical won the Best that year?

What play won the most Tonys without winning Best Play? Year? Categories won? What play won the Best category?

Was the musical Follies in 1972? If so, they won score, direction, choreographer, lighting, costumes, scenic design, and actress. But Two Gentlemen of Verona won best musical.

Which one of the following popular shows has won a Tony?
Grease
Jesus Christ Superstar
West Side Story
Godspell

2) Best Direction - Prince/Bennett
3) Best Costumes - Klotz
4) Best Sets - Aaronson
5) Best Actress- Alexis Smith
6) Best Choreography - Bennett

The best musical was Two Gentlemen of Verona that year. Go figure

West Side Story won for Scenery and Choreography.

All the others had some nominations but were bridesmaids all the way.

The multi-award-winning Best Play-less Tony champ? Go look it up. The world waits....

Isn't it Child's Play? I think it won five Tonys, but not Best Play. Borstal Boy won Best Play, and the year was 1970.

What year?
Categories?
What play won? For that matter the play that won Best Play won in what other categories?

Had to look it up, but Child's Play won for

Actor - Fritz Weaver
Supporting Actor - Ken Howard
Director - Joseph Hardy
Scenic - Jo Mielziner
Lighting - Jo Mielziner

(Year and the play that won were added to my post above. Borstal Boy won just the one Tony for Best Play).
