thanks for starting this thread. I would love to hear how the process leading up to opening night is going. Anyone have any behind the scenes stories to report?

It looks like they will be blogging throughout rehearsals.

Does anyone know if they go on sale at midnight or at 10AM?

10 am is the usual but i would start calling or typing at midnite just to be sure. Their agent was NOT absolutely sure.

I know this is probably going to be a sold out show but any word on a rush for this one? Also How's the balcony. I'd like to see the show but could probably only afford rush or balcony, Should I wait for rush/tdf or just buy balcony
thanks
thanks

I really don't think this show will sell out. There will be a huge initial rush that will create the illusion of demand. The first few weeks will be tight, but I wouldn't worry after that. People talked the same way about LuPone's Gypsy and that never materialized into a hot ticket of any kind-and that was a lauded show.

But GYPSY just had a revival 5 years prior to that.

Yes but Gypsy is a classic and a known commodity and this is a musical based on an obscure cult film with musical theatre stars that are unknown to the average ticket buyer. I think it will be a tough sell.
I am so excited for this show, but I don't think many outside theatre circles are.

I have to agree somewhat w/BettyBoy, but after opening night, if it's sold out, they'll probably sell standing room.

Do you know if the box off also opens tomorrow or just online sales?

Just bought tickets online! Can't wait! I had no problem with the server, btw. It wasn't slow at all.

Anyone want to comment on how the view is from the balcony at the Belasco?

I just got my ticket online and no problem with the server as well. Seat selection not the best - I like side orchestra aisle. I got for a Sat night in Nov - first row side mezz (but not on aisle).
I think tickets will be tough for a little while as (1) it IS Lincoln Center with subscribers and (2) initial ticket availability is only through Jan 23rd (3) the cast is amazing if you know anything about theater - you got LuPone, Mitchell, Benanti - all Tony winners - along with Scott and for the Idol set, Guarini (HUH?) and (4) You have Sher directing and Yazbek doing the music (who always does a great job with movie based shows - just look at Full Monty and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels).
Surprised to see it only available through Jan 2011. You know it will probably play longer than the intitial run is allocated. I guess they are trying to front load the ticket sales (maybe to drum up demand) and then will extend and release great seats after us chumps buy up the crappy seats in the initial run and create all the demand.
Oh well, anything worth seeing is worth suffering a less than desirable seat (if Front Row Mezz can be considered less than desirable).

Front row mezz is my favorite place to sit in most theaters so I'm sure you'll love it. I somehow got a ticket dead center in the Orchestra Row M! Advantages of going to shows by yourself, perhaps?

I know Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown is based on a movie. Has this ever been done on the stage or is this the first time?
