We have tickets in the balcony for the first preview as well- Row B 104 and 105. Not thrilled about the seats, but it is what it is.

yeah, it's high, but at least the overhang is close -- not set far back like the Marquis, Gershwin, etc. Whatever, if. by chance you don't like the show, you can always gaze up at the utterly, fabulously restored ceiling! Anyway your seats are dead ctr.

There's a photo of the Patti, Sherie, and Laura in the Wall Street Journal fall preview. Getting so excited for this show!

Just what I've been needing in my life: trashy blonde Patti LuPone!
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.

They all look awful. I don't remember that being part of the film. It's like, let go completely against what flatters them and use that to create their look.
They all look super old.

I must admit Shrie's brown hair and jacket keep reminding me of this:

Anybody know where the poles land in the balcony?
Here's a pic from the new restoration:
http://www.nytimes.com/slideshow/2010/08/29/theater/20100829-ISHERWOOD-4.html
I noticed Longacre has them too and it's annoying if you're stuck directly behind one, and I hate that it's not labeled anywhere, so wondering if anybody remembers what seats they are around?
From the looks of it, almost looks like 101-102 in the pic but I can't be sure. I was about to buy those seats.

Seeing the first preview !! So excited. Sitting in Balcony Row A 113.

hubee, the box office at the Belasco now sets aside the seats behind the poles in the balcony until everything else is sold; and then the usual policy is to sell them only at the box office or over the phone - so you should be fine.
I'll see if I can find the exact locations though, just in case.

There won't be a pole on the aisle. It's normally in the middle of the aisle.

Man, I can't wait for this show. I booked a ticket for November 5th so that I could go in on a high after having read hopefully rave reviews, but it's going to be hard not to cave and go earlier in previews as well. I just don't know if I can be that patient!

^ I know exactly how you feel. I'm planning to go with a friend who lives out-of-town, so I have to wait until she's able to come. Right now it looks like we won't be seeing it until the week before Thanksgiving (hopefully following the Saturday matinee of Bells Are Ringing). I don't know if I'll be able to resist the temptation of seeing it before then!
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.

Bells Are Ringing? Encores?

Yep! Unless the cast is full of people I hate, I'll be going to the Saturday matinee. (although even if the cast is full of people I hate, I do love an Encores show. The full orchestra and talkbacks alone are always worth it.)

Huh. I just moved here in June, so I've never seen an Encores show before, but I love the concept (and I love old-fashioned musicals). I'll have to look into it. This fall is full of shows and concerts that I just can't say no to and my bank account is not happy with me.

Starting at 13:50 in this video, Catherine Zuber talks about designing the costumes for the show. Having never seen the film before, it's interesting to see how they've tweaked costumes while still staying true to the designs in the movie.
