The Outsiders is sold out again tonight and I just saw another video of the large crowds that gather to stagedoor. I love when the cast open the theatre windows at the Jacobs and say hi to everyone. I don’t remember ever seeing the crowds the show gathers around the theatre like that. At least not for a long time. Anyone have any experiences with this or thoughts about the hype around the show, post-Tony win?
I saw Hadestown pre Tony’s win and they handed everyone a little red flower and everyone was hanging out in the street after. It was a very electric vibe
I saw it the day before the Tonys, there were a lot of people, including school groups, but it wasn't too bad. I assume now that it is selling out and the actors are now "rockstars" to its younger audience members, the stage door crowds are only gonna get out of control. Still don't know if anything could compare to the stage door at the Gatsby First Preview.
The idea is to work and to experiment. Some things will be creatively successful, some things will succeed at the box office, and some things will only - which is the biggest only - teach you things that see the future. And they're probably as valuable as any of your successes. -Harold Prince
I’m glad many of the unknowns in the cast are getting a fan following. The crowd has been huge since the previews and skews young. It think being younger (cast) and new to broadway helps with the stage door energy. They were def so excited just being there and took quite some time with the audience.
I think Gatsby stagedoor maybe slightly larger. JJ and Eva are also very gracious and generous with their time.
I have a Windowcard for this one that the entire cast had signed except Brody, whom I’ve not been lucky enough to get coming out to sign, ever. I’ve walked over a few times and just never seen him come out - anyone know if he ever does?
Emma Pittman posted that she had so much interest in her Broadway.com YouTube series ‘Call Me Cherry’ she decided to continue doing backstage vlogs on her own channel and has over 1,000 subscribers already.
Last night the Stereophonic and Outsiders cast were using the same alleyway exit which caused some awkward overlap. Brody came out and just waved, no signing.

These two theatres do share the same “stage door” but sometimes actors from the Jacobs use another exit as “the stage door to greet fans”. The door is between the Jacobs and Golden. When I stage doored for the Outsiders they came out from that exit.
