re: a new producers trailer

Aww, this looks like fun. Lotsa lotsa lotsa fun. Which is all it should be, really.

Looking forward to it.

And was it just me, or did Uma sound a little flat in the little clip of "When You Got It?"

(No, that was NOT a double entendre! Get your minds out of the gutters, people! Sheesh!)

Oh boy oh boy oh boy!
Can't wait to see it.
Looks soooo much like the stage version!

re: a new producers trailer

Someone here said Ulla had a dancing double.

I hope this is not true, anyone know?

re: a new producers trailer

Tesse, I totally agree with you. I think either they lowered it a key, or it just sounds odd. It definitley sounded flat to my semi-trained ear.

re: a new producers trailer

I don't think she sounds flat at all.

Most likely because we are not used to the lower key.

re: a new producers trailer

Ahh! It's brilliant. Still saddened that the release was pushed back (hopefully Baltimore is worthy enough of the 12/25 release) but this is one fantastic trailer!

Yes, Barrowman is the Lead Tenor Stormtrooper (for whomever asked) it's listed on IMDB.

re: a new producers trailer

I liked it! John Barrowman as Lead Tenor? That gets me really excited! That clip that they showed from "Springtime" left me wondering if the Lead Tenor from the original Broadway cast did the vocals, but I'm just as happy with John :)

I would have liked, even though they aren't very well known to non-theatre going audiences, Gary Beach and Roger Bart to have been mentioned, or at least Gary Beach. When they announced Will Farrell, I thought, "But Franz doesn't have any bigger of a role than Roger DeBris!" I know, I know, Will Farrell is a bigger name, but still, one can hope...

It's fantastic that they're making this into a movie (and a very good one at that, judging from this trailer) at all though. Makes me remember some of the really funny lines from the stage show!

As a big Gary Beach fan, I also would've like to have seen more of him (and Roger Bart) although the shot of him as Hitler is wonderful.

My only slight consolation is that after the movie opens, Mr. Beach will finally get some recognition from the average Joe. It'll make it so much easier when I start raving about his talents and people actually know who he is. I'm sure the same will happen for Roger Bart, although he's already a more familiar name thanks to Desperate Housewives.

Cannot wait for this movie!

Uma sounded amazing and not under. I am excited about her in this role. Maybe it could win her a supporting actress at the Oscars!

re: a new producers trailer

First off, I have a feeling this is going to be one of the biggest box-office hits of the year. I'm hardly ever wrong.

Ok, that's a lie, but still... :)

And for those of you who are wondering, due to the wonders of having perfect pitch (that's another discussion for another board), YES, Uma's song has been lowered to another key. In the Broadway stage version, the song begins and ends in the key of F# Major, or Gb major (same key, different names). When they show the clip of Uma singing, she is only belting up to a B flat on her line "When you GOT IT......" - this means that the song will be in the key of Eb major, and end in the key of Eb major, which is a full step and 1/2 down from the original key. Not a major leap, but a significant one.

I think it's great Uma did her own singing and dancing - so what if she's not a professional Broadway belter? It takes guts and courage to do that, and I am sure she will MORE than be adequate and delightful for the movie. She looks wonderful, sounds wonderful, and now that I have answered the deep meaning behind the friggin' key of this song, we can all put this topic to rest.

JUST ENJOY THE MOVIE!!!!!!!

JasonM...thanks for saying what I was thinking: Enjoy the movie. I am a contralto and nearly every song I've ever sung for auditions and shows has had to be transposed. There is no shame in this. She simply has a different range.

re: a new producers trailer

Do I see karen ziemba as one of the girls laughing at nathan lane between when matthew broderick says "you could make more money with a flop" (this is where she would be) "than with a hit!"? Is that her or just someone who looks eerily like her?

re: a new producers trailer

I am very excited about this movie. Love Lane, love Uma. Can't wait.

re: a new producers trailer

I like it! It looks exactly like the stage version in some parts, which I guess if I stick to my Rent "I want it to do justice" guns, should be a good thing. I didn't know until I watched the trailer that Susan Stroman directed! Way to be out of the loop.

This looks truly amazing. It pretty much couldn't be any better, could it!!

re: a new producers trailer

Actually, JasonM12480, it's two full steps lower than the original key. At that point of the song, there's a key change from F# (or Gb) to G. Haha, I too have perfect pitch, yay!

Love it. Even better than the first trailer. I swear every time I come to the board and hear more about this movie, the more excited I become.

The Producers as a show is FAR from Bambi, and I have a feeling that the movie won't be too far from the show...
