The Producers: Which Version?

I have both the movie and OBCR of 'The Producers' sitting in front of me. I only want one, and I am not sure if one is better than the other? Anyone who is familiar with both want to give me some pros and cons of each album? Thanks!

Definitely the OBCR.

But as BrodyFosse said, the orchestrations on the film version are to die for.

The OBCR has the superior Ulla, and some nice bonus stuff like the Overture, the complete Along Came Bialy, Where Did We Go Right?

The soundtrack has the superior orchestrations, which are superior enough to warrant buying. Unfortunately, it has Uma Thurman and cuts made to the score. It has two useless new songs which don't really make up for the ones cut. But really, it's only just slightly less worthy than the cast recording.

I'd buy the OBCR now, and perhaps supplement it with some stuff from the soundtrack from iTunes if you feel inclined.

I hate the Overture on the OBC. I wish they would have recorded the shorter version.

Amazon sells both for dirt cheap but if you have to pick one, OBC!

Even with its flubs, I think the OBCR is the best version...capturing the original cast with all its magic. There is also the fact that Cady Huffman and Brad Oscar were the best suited for those roles and while Will Ferrell and Uma Thurman did OK in drawing the audience for the movie, they are in no way comparable to the original cast members.

The original version also contains some songs that were cut for the movie, though it does not contain the closing song Brooks wrote for the movie. All things considered I much prefer the OBCR. I will say that Broderick's voice sounded very sweet and pure on the movie soundtrack, even more so than the OBCR, but I still prefer the original Broadway cast.
