Cause maybe it has no scarecrows or flying faries.
Don't be silly. The reason I don't care for "The Sound of Music" is because it is overly-saccharine, cloying and maudlin.

Wow! Thanks for reminding me of Carrie Underwood's pedestrian performance in the NBC Live telecast. She really could not hold her own against Audra McDonald, Laura Benanti and Christian Borle.
To make things worse, there was absolutely no chemistry between her and Stephen Moyer.
There was more chemistry between Ariane Rhinehart, who was absolutely lovely as "Liesl" and Michael Campayno who played "Rolf", and that's not saying much.

What about the snooze fest that was on last week? When the Wiz began I thought we were in for a good plot and Stephanie Mills sang beautifully. But when Dorothy moved to the garden of elves. ahhhh!! The Sound of Music is actually a very good show based on a true story.
That being said, I do not believe we are ever going to break away from fairy-tales on NBC. But at least Fox and other channels are on board so maybe we will get West Side Story, In the Heights and more interesting titles.
Also in England the Sound of Music show is much more popular than in the USA. Just six years ago the show was playing at the London Palladium to great critical acclaim. It was extremely hard to get a thicket when the show opened. I do hope that ITV will continue bringing live theatre

She couldn't even hold her own against that desk she inexplicably slapped her hands down on during "My Favorite Things."

With all due respect Danster you are entitled to your opinion, but if you don't mind I am still sticking to mine. "The Sound of Music" is in my opinion overly saccharine, cloying and maudlin. I've never cared for it and I never will.

If you do not like sound of music I cannot understand why you are wasting precious time typing messages in a thread about a show that is being done on the other side of the globe. Cleary your intentions are to attack people who preferred another performance than the one you liked, and because someone dared to complain you are ready to attack. Need I remind you that this is called cyber bulling and I am not afraid to get this step further by putting abuse reports, as this is where all these arguments are leading us. To Musicaljen need I remind you that the Mother Abbess is also African American and there was no need for such a remark, even tough The Wiz was greatly attacked because its coming from their heritage.
I am taking action right away about this.
"
No Danster, I am not cyber bullying in any way, shape or form. So if you want to take this "one step further" by all means do so. You will find that in the end you would be wasting your time in doing so.
Need I remind you that this here is an open internet forum and I have every right to post my opinion on any topic I chose to. My comments were not aimed at any specific poster or race and were in no way disrespectful to anyone. Therefore your accusations hurled at me and my intentions are baseless and blatant assumptions on your part.
I had every right to post my opinion on "The Sound of Music" and it still stands that I find it an overtly saccharine, cloying and maudlin show.
Once again: I have every right to post my opinion.
I am not cyber bullying anyone.
On the other hand musicaljen managed to offend a whole race with his (or her) blatantly racist post.

Gibberish. No you have no right to provoke anyone, and with your sill posts it is what you are doing to both fans of the sound of music and overall Carrie Underwood. Shame on you. Go get yourself a life.

First you clearly pick on Carrie Underwood fans and you start crying that you are victim of cyber bullying.
It is a shame that way both threads for The Wiz and Sound of Music live threads went. Its also a shame for broadwayworld for not deleting these threads. Only a handful of 9 people are behind these posts and you should stop them now.

You're obviously itching for a fight with someone but I'm hereby putting you on notice that it's not going to be me.
I will leave you with this thought:
Don’t argue with idiots because they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience. —Greg King
So I am opting out of letting you drag me down to your level.

seems like racistcaljen hasn't dared to post ever since Phyllis snatched her wig in the NBC Wiz! Live thread.

The reason that I did not post is that my account was hacked and honestly I do not care about broadwayworld anymore. Its just a series of ten people contradicting each other, it is nothing about being a theatre fan. Whoever wants to call a Brian Stokes Mitchell and Audra McDonald fan racist, just be my guest. Not that I care, cause after all isn't what this site is all about?
I was not the one who started a thread about the Wiz being about racism. It happened to be in local newspapers all over the world and little do I care.
