Whoever watched the making off the Wiz, must have noticed the comment made by Stephanie Mills. I quote people looking like me. I also found the piece disturbing, but there were other reasons I did not enjoy the Wiz which were bad filming. not a fan of the Wizard of oz novel, and most of all the music. Except for Ease all done the road, other tunes are forgettable.

Can someone please explain how this thread from The Sound of Music turned to The WIZ? There is another thread for this childish show. Go to it.
Maybe if you took the time to read the thread you can answer your own damn question Danster. Now stop being a biotch and go to it.
jenn3258, I hope Brian Stokes Mitchell and Audra McDonald like the fact that one of their "fans" referred to the cast of The Wiz as Charcoal N!ggers.
It must be cool to be so damned racist.
And Nefertitties, do the English language a huge favor and stop murdering it.

I'm with Heifertitties. How awful it is when black people see themselves represented in theatre.

I thank Carlos for this message. It simply summons up what broadwayworld is all about, which is to get back at each other.
If you want to enjoy any show, do not turn to these boards for whatever reason. It spoils the fun.

I am :p
I wonder if Mel Giedroyc will be all giggly and off-script like her brief appearance in the recent live Rocky Horror Show. I hope so!

Its just a series of ten people contradicting each other, it is nothing about being a theatre fan. Whoever wants to call a Brian Stokes Mitchell and Audra McDonald fan racist, just be my guest. Not that I care, cause after all isn't what this site is all about?
I was not the one who started a thread about the Wiz being about racism. It happened to be in local newspapers all over the world and little do I care.

I can't wait for this!! I'm sure it will be great. The Brits know drama. I like how they are treating it like a period piece with music. I imagine it like Downton Abbey but with singing.
Sounds like a snooze fest. They should re-title it THE SOUND OF SNORING. ZZZzzz....
The sets and costumes alone (which look quite period-authentic but also gorgeously muted) make NBC's version look like a pile of turds. I am excited to see this.

Will we in the USA be able to see it? Will it be on their website streaming?
Oh lord the last thing we need here in the US of A is another version of THE SOUND OF MUCOUS. Please keep this crap on the other side of the pond...
^Who sh!t in your oatmeal?
At least the cast will be singing live, not pulling a Natalie Wood.
Amirite?
No you are not amirite and I don't eat oatmeal.....
I am watching this live right now, and HOLY CRAP!!! Is this really live?! It looks like a movie. The set is so elaborate it is insane. The camerawork is polished and smooth. The acting is excellent.
Production-wise, it blows all three of NBC's efforts out of the water, although I actually prefer the singing on the NBC broadcast to this.

It's really something special. I love it so far.

Two members of the Downton cast spotted so far.
How are you watching? I tried to create an account with ITV, but you have to be in the UK.
This puts, in cruel perspective, how superior the film script is to the stage show's book.
It seemed wooden until Katherine Kingsley and Alexander Armstrong arrived and took it up several gears.

Oh man, we just tried to watch it and it was slightly painful. The set and camerawork really is incredible and it doesn't look very 'live' (in a good way), but "16 Going On 17" had us cringing like mad. Oh man that was terrible. "Lonely Goatherd" was slightly better but not enough to keep me watching. Everyone seems miscast (except Julian, I'm sure).
I'm surprised how good a job ITV have done. The set is outstanding, the cast are perfect in terms of having name recondition to attract an audience but also have the talent. Kara doesn't quite have the humour Maria usually has but her acting and singing are strong. Surprisingly if anyone looks a bit awkward it's julian
The direction is excellent and it's moving along at a cracking speed. It's different enough from the movie to keep you interested and not make you feel like you are just watching a carbon copy.

Katherine is giving me Cruella vibes. I think that's a good thing.
