Well, my girl Frances has already been finger printed, booked and mugged shot,
<<<<
But I will gladly testify in her behalf.
The jean jacket is back and stylish also, but the dress underneath is another story. If she wore the jacket over a light blue evening gown she'd be on everyone's best dressed list.

I agree with that, but what I thought the biggest problem was that her hair wasn't combed. If she had at least combed her hair, she would've looked so much better.

Posted: 6/17/11 at 11:36pmInteresting that last year there were screams for Denzel's blood for the way he dressed for the telecast, which included denim, if I recall correctly, but Frances seems to be getting off much easier. Yeah, she's on all the worst dressed lists and WTF moments, but no one shouting about her "disrespecting" the awards and the community (the charge that I remember some throwing at Denzel).

Um, forget the Tony Awards... she REALLY needed to Fashion Police at the "Spider-Man" opening night party. Just what exactly WAS going on??
Barbie dolls on our feet:
Low-cut or no socks, and SHORTS??:
Some sort of weird, rejected costume design for one of Sarah Brightman's "Harem" tour dancers:
And some kind of medieval bondage/Amish farmboy crossover outfit:
I mean, can we TRY to class it up a bit, kids?

Yes opening night is amazing and such, but this isn't the movies where these people can afford gowns and outfits that cost a fortune. Theatre actors really in some senses are just normal people with insane talent that unfortunately gets overlooked by Hollywood alot of the time. Alot of the people I saw at the tony's didn't look that good to me the only one who did it for me was Nina Arianda

They don't need to be able to afford to spend a fortune on gowns to know better and remember to put on pants for opening night. The average high schooler at prom does better than that.
It's nice to see tuxes with bow ties come back. Lately, it's been predominantly ties, but there's something very classic and sexy about a bow tie.

Not sure about that ...
yes, denim jackets are making something of a comeback, but they're generally updated styles, reflecting a more contemporary sense of fashion ... wearing a crusty old number you had during the original allman brothers tour probably will never "work".
agree with everything else, though -- the dress underneath didn't help, and the overall lack of grooming was kind of icky.

Posted: 6/18/11 at 11:28amI know the Tonys are specifically black tie, and I'm pretty sure that there's no way that any denim jacket, no matter how stylish, qualifies

No one in Hollywood pays for their dresses. They have designers that throw dresses at them just for the chance that it be worn and get them publicity.
I know HUNDREDS of costumers, dressers and designers who would LOVE to dress these people up. There is no reason to look bad, unless you just don’t give a rats ass.

I think Frances is getting less backlash than Denzel bc she still garners much less attention in general (theatre world, Hollywood, public realm) than Denzel, and also, supporters are able to pull out the 'she was honoring Margie' card.
Also, I love Joan Rivers.

Posted: 6/18/11 at 9:16pmFrances' denim jacket does not look like it is from the Allman Brothers era (though I'm not sur when that was), it's a shorter, more feminine piece from Valentino's vintage, denim collection.
