The Winter Garden And Applebee's

I was looking through some of my Playbills as I was organizing/"archiving" them, and there was something interesting in on section. The Playbill I was looking at was "Little Shop of Horrors" from July 2004.
In the section where Playbill asks two "stars" their favourite place to go to eat before/after a show, etc...Ann Harada who played "Christmas Eve" in Avenue said the Applebee's at Broadway and W 50th between 7th/8th Ave.
There was a quote by the manager said that if you go through a door on the 5th floor, you are automatically in Mamma Mia dressing rooms.
Has anybody done this/know about this? I'm curious after another thread mentioned about a door leading to the historic Liberty Theatre in the Applebee's on 42nd Street.

Posted: 7/23/09 at 1:58pmMy first thought would be, "Ann Harada DOES NOT like Applebee's!!! Cheyenne Jackson had the same listing saying that he recommended Applebee's. WTF? Any self respecting gay man would not recommend an Applebee's. Please tell me these endorsements are lies, and if so, why do actors allow their names to be attached.

I'm pretty sure the endorsements are written and paid for by the restaurants, and press agents or publicists work to get their clients on top of the endorsements, but they have no say in which restaurant they end up endorsing.

Posted: 7/23/09 at 2:20pmNothing could beat Applebee's 3 course meals.
re: The Winter Garden And Applebee's#10
Posted: 7/23/09 at 2:24pmApplebee's is fine in a pinch, but having a Broadway actor recommend the Applebee's in Times Square is insane. I mean, the 3 course meal which runs like 11.95 here is like 39.99 at the Times Square location. A daiquiri is like 20 bucks. I hope my dear sweet Ann and divine Cheyenne got a paycheck for being whored out to Mr. Applebee.

Posted: 7/23/09 at 2:33pmI like how someone on Consumerist some months back said (paraphrasing) "Complaining about the food at Applebee's is like having sex with a prostitute and feeling like you weren't loved."

Posted: 7/23/09 at 2:36pmLizzie, that is perfect....totally spot on. I realize we hijacked the original stalker, I mean, pervert, I mean poster's thread about getting into Carolee Carmello's dressing room through the 5th floor of an overpriced chain.

I like Applebees...when I'm in suburbia and the only options are national chains.
Cheyenne Jackson posted about the Applebees recommendation in his blog once. He said he's never been.

In an Applebee's near my hometown, someone found a lizard head in their salad.

GROSS.

Well, if it were Carolee Carmello I could understand, cause she just opens her dressing room door and there she is!
The endorsements are written indeed by PR people and then a Broadway performer is chosen and they are given a free meal.
Too bad Ann got Applebee's and not Orso.

When I was a child I hated Applebee's because I thought everything came with apples, which to this day I don't enjoy eating (it's a texture thing). I was also afraid of applejuice, because I saw cinnamon in the bottom of a glass once and thought it was dirt.

Yes, the spots are totally fabricated ads. I remember talking to Gerard Canonico (Spring Awakening) about his. He'd never been to the restaurant they pinned on his name either.
Why doesn't it HAVE to say "advertisement" above it? Is it because we don't pay for a playbill? If this were in a magazine it would need to. Anyone in publishing?
