I"m surprised then that Grandma doesn't remember. Or if it was your mom's camera, it would likely have been one of her first cameras and one she would remember. Video cameras weren't so small back then.
Still, it's sad that Grandma did not let your mom enjoy or experience the show since your mom had to pay attention to keeping the camera hidden, as I'm sure your mom knew that taping the show was wrong.

Especially since in 1975 there were no video cameras, at least not as we think of them today. She would have had to use reels of actual film and change them out quite frequently in order to get the show, but she still would have missed a lot of it when going through bags and getting new reels of film ready to load into the camera. I'm sure it wasn't distracting in the least to the people near her. Plus she would have had to have an additional unit to record sound (if she wanted that, which I'm sure she would since she was bootlegging a musical for Granny).
