this line is just hilarious:

"What, what're you all staring at? Is there something in my teeth? Alright fine, let’s get this over with. No, I'm not seasick. Yes, I've always been green. No, I did not eat grass as a child."
~ Elphaba - Idina Menzel, Wicked

this quote is really touching and a moral everyone could live by... it's in the finale

there is no future, there is no past;
thank god this moment's not the last.
there's only us, there's only this;
forget regret or life is yours to miss.
no other road, no other way,
no day but today.
~ RENT

Emcee. It is one of my most favorite lines ever spoken lol. Im a sappy romantic at heart, and if my lover said that to me, Id die right there just to see if it were true lol

The first time I heard it I was like O.O ::SOB:: LOL

*edited to add lines*

"Ive got to get out of here! Its like Im being tied to the hood of a Yellow Rental Truck, being packed in with fertilizer, and fuel oil pushed over a cliff by a suicidal mickey mouse" -Over the moon, Rent. Simply because it is the most confusing line I have ever heard in my life. lol

"Henry the "V"!"
"Its not Henry the "V"! Its Henry the Fifth!"
"Ha!...whatever..."
- Maryland Rennaissance Festival, Shakespeare Skums version of Henry the "V"!

Viva i LOVE LOVE LOVE that line. i think it's so freaking funny.

okay...now i've worked on a lot of plays in my community theatre...and over the head sets we've had some pretty interesting conversations about certin lines. I'll just give you the run down on some of the lines and some things we've added at times.

Woman In Black performed in Jan. of 2004

Kips: We're telling Ghost Stories...Just the thing for Christmas Eve

::line added by the lighting designer::

In Hell.
--------------------------------------------------
Kips: Yes, yes, you learn't them expertly, but the woman you found- the actress. The woman in black. (pause) Who was she? (Pause) You organized it as a complete surprise - you had her come here and go through her part and...a young woman. With a wasted face - she...

Silence. The Actor is staring at him in horror

Actor: A young woman?

Kipps: Is there anything the matter? You look unwell.

Pause

Actor: (at length) I did not see a young woman.

Lights fade, we hear again the rhythmic bump, bump, bump, pause, bump, bump, bump, pause....

Black-out

Curtain
----------------------------------------

Amadeus Performed March 2003

The following is the most heart wrenching scene I had ever seen performed on stage...i think it had a lot to do with the way it was lit and sound but the words also got me too.

Constanze: oh lovey, be silent now. No-one has hurt you. You'll get better soon, i pormise. Can you hear me? If I've been a bore...If I've nagged a bit it's because I'm spoilt, lovey, you've spoilt me...
You've got to get well, Wolfie - Becasue we need you. Karl and baby franz as well. There's only the three of us, lovey: we don't cost much. Jus tdo n't leve us - we wouldn't know what to do without you. And you wouldn't nkow much either, up in Heaven, without us. You sopy thing. You can't even cut up your own meat without help!...I'm not clever, lovey. It can't have been easy living ith a goose. But i've looked after you, you must admit that. And I've given you fun too - quite a lot really!...Are you listening?

(the drum strokes get slower, and stop)

Know one thing. It was teh best day of my life when you married me. and as long as I live I'll be the most honoured woman in the world...Do you hear me?...Can you hear me?

(she becomes aware that Mozart is dead. she opens her mouth in a silent scream. The great cord of the "Amen" plays and lingers as She hugs his body and sobs)
--------------------------------------
Joseph II: ah!....well...there it is.
--------------------------------------

Dracula Performed September 2003

in this show the guy playing Dr. Seward was not our first choice....or second....or third...let's just say we had the really scrape the barrel with this one and the way he delivered this line made me laugh every night...granted it was at a very dramatic point in the show...that's what made it funnier for me.

Van Helsing: Ah! Here it is. Quick, that Stake

Seward: What a horrible undead thing.....he is....lying......there.

Harker: Let me drive it in deep!

needles to say those lines started a lot of discussion about things such as gay porn....funny funny funny i think someone suggested making a porn called Count Fagula. yeah nuff said...moving on...
-----------------------------------------------

Laughter on the 23rd Floor Performed September 2004

i was in this show and it took every ounce of my being to not laugh at certin lines.

Max: They're threatinging my show. My show is my life. If the threaten my life, they threaten my family. You want to hear the letter they sent me? You want to nkow what they said, word for word for word?

Milt: Go ahead, Max. The doors are still closed.

Max: They said....."Give the people ****"

(They all look at each other)

Carol: The President of NBC said that?

Max: You heard me. "Give the people ****."

Brian: You mean as a gift?

Carol: Why w ould he say that, Max?

Max: Because-they can make money on ****. A pot full. Drive up to Connecticut, they got big Tudor **** houses wherever you look, that's why the invented television. The pu t**** on for people to watch, they advertise the ****, the people run out and buy the ****, their kids break the s hit, so they buy them more **** and the **** moguls go to France in the summer and the poor people stay her and watch mor ****...That's why i got a letter saying, "Give the people ****."

Milt (aside to carol) Isn't that was Marie Antoinette said?
--------------------------------------------------------------

There i'm done...sorry for the super long post.

From "RAGTIME"

Make Them Hear You Lyrics
(Sorry for the caps)

GO OUT AND TELL THE STORY.
LET IT ECHO FAR AND WIDE.
MAKE THEM HEAR YOU.
MAKE THEM HEAR YOU.

HOW THAT JUSTICE WAS OUR BATTLE AND HOW JUSTICE WAS DENIED.
MAKE THEM HEAR YOU.
MAKE THEM HEAR YOU.

AND SAY TO THOSE WHO BLAME US
FOR THE WAY WE CHOSE TO FIGHT
THAT SOMETIMES THERE ARE BATTLES
WHICH ARE MORE THAN BLACK OR WHITE.

AND I COULD NOT PUT DOWN MY SWORD
WHEN JUSTICE WAS MY RIGHT.
MAKE THEM HEAR YOU.
MAKE THEM HEAR YOU.

MY PATH MAY LEAD TO HEAVEN OR HELL
AND GOD WILL SAY WHAT'S BEST
BUT ONE THING HE WILL NEVER SAY
IS THAT I WENT QUIETLY TO MY REST.

GO OUT AND TELL OUR STORY
TO YOUR DAUGHTERS AND YOUR SONS.
MAKE THEM HEAR YOU.
MAKE THEM HEAR YOU.

PROCLAIM IT FROM YOUR PULPIT.
IN YOUR CLASSROOM WITH YOUR PEN
TEACH EVERY CHILD TO RAISE HIS VOICE
AND THEN, MY BROTHERS, THEN

WILL JUSTICE BE DEMANDED
BY TEN MILLION RIGHTEOUS MEN.
MAKE THEM HEAR YOU.
WHEN THEY HEAR YOU
I'LL BE NEAR YOU AGAIN.

I think the second part of the Lament from "Evita"(as heard in the Concept Album) is beautiful.
"the choice was mine, and no one else's. I could have the masses(millions?) at my feet....Give my life to people I might never meet, or else, to children of my own. Remember, I was very young then...Thought I needed the numbers on my side. Thought the more that loved me, the more loved I'd be, but such things cannot be multiplied...."

Sorry for any typos...the school's keyboards....don't rock my socks.

Currently: FASTRADA in Pippin Dream Role: Mimi in RENT "No day but today." "PATTI: Would you mind if I sang? JACK: Shut up, Patti LuPone! Shut your brassy, magnificent trap! I don't wanna hear you sing. I don't wanna cut your hair. And I certainly don't wanna hear you singing while I'm cutting your hair! Got it?! Now I'm talking to my best friend, so stand back, Buenos Aires!"- from Will & Grace

I love all of "Sometime, do you think We Could Fall in Love" from Zanna, Don't! It's one of my favorite songs.

Another one from Zanna, Don't: Great shoes, Cinderella. Maybe I'll get a pair.

Anyway, "I am what I am." That is by far the greatest lyric ever sung on a stage.

When in doubt, go Sondheim. And in today's lingering mood of malice tinged with weary resignation, it must be this:

Someone tell the story,
Someone sing the song,
Every now and then
The country goes a little wrong.

Every now and then
A madman's bound to come along.
Doesn't stop the story...
Story's pretty strong.
Doesn't change the song.

Stephen Sondheim, "The Ballad of Booth"

"It's time to trust my instincts, close my eyes...and leap." - Wicked

"I know, put the earmuffs on the cookie." - Avenue Q

"I need an academic advisor to point the way..." - Avenue Q

"To Dance: no way to make a living, masochism, pain, perfection, muscle spasm, chiropractors, short-careers, eating disorders!" - Rent

"The opposite of war isn't peace, it's creation..." - Rent

"I'm a New Yorker, fear's my life." - Rent

"Look - I find some of what you teach suspect, because I'm used to relying on intellect, but I try to open up to what I don't know. Because reason says I should have died three years ago..." - Rent

"How do you document real life when real life's getting more like fiction each day..." - Rent

"How do you leave the past behind when it keeps finding ways to get to your heart / it reaches way down deep and tears you inside out until you're torn apart..." - Rent

And it's been mentioned...but the best line (that never, ever fails to brings tears to my eyes):

"And remember, the truth that once was spoken...to love another person is to see the face of God." - Les Miserables

There's more, but I can't think of them off the top of my head.
