Welcome to the club Ljay, you will be welcomed surely. I hear they are making signs, and buttons, and trying to choose a t-shirt design.
nevermind
Thanks, Pippin. I assume you are talking about the one with a hot guy.
But it seems the mods here will delete any of my avatars that contain a shirtless man or whatever. It just makes me mad because people have had avatars like that. And worse pictures have been posted. All you got to do is look at the pics this site does for Broadway Bares and they are worse than my avatars.
HEY
stop picking on L!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think it's because his penis was clearly outlined. did they contact you and tell you to change it?
No, they just automatically delete it. This is like the 5th avatar they've deleted. I guess I didn't notice how much his penis was outlined lol.
Oh well. Avatar is of the lovely Michelle DeJean as Roxie for now.
well, her ass is loverly.
I guess.
ok.....goodnight!!!
When I was a kid--and pretty much through high school and into college--people at Broadway shows wore really nice clothes...not "black-tie" formal, but formal.
It's different today. I could complain about how "relaxed" it has become, but why? What difference does it make? I don't sit in the theatre before the show begins thinking, "I cannot BELIEVE the slobs I'm surrounded by."
Frankly, I don't care what happens before the show begins. I also don't care about the "dress code." (It sure is a lot easier for me than it used to be. That's a good thing.)
So if a bunch of "kids" are acting silly or stupid before a show, so what?
For all we know, this was their first time IN a theatre. Maybe afterwards, their "chaperones" said, "Look guys, next time, nix the wave." I mean, people have to GO to the theatre in order to learn how to BEHAVE in the theatre.
Not everyone has had the benefit of attending theatre as often as others. Liotte, if this really bothered you, the best thing you could have done was find someone associated with the "wave group," and tell them that you felt it was inappropriate or whatever. Then they would have something to think about the next time they attend a show.
Sometimes people have to be told they've offended someone in order to know it. It certainly doesn't seem that these kids were maliciously motivated to "ruin" everyone's enjoyment of the show. It sounds like they were just trying to have fun.
If that fun detracted from your fun, you should tell THEM so that they can consider altering their behavior in the future. WE can't do anything about it.
Thank you for your eloquent post, I appreciate hearing your feedback without being attacked. (ZONEACE and NAMO, take note).
Did you get a picture of the wave? Perhaps you could send it to the management and complain.

while I don't really like speaking for others, i doubt namo will take note, and I know I'm certainly not taking note.
Well then I, along with many others, will continue to dislike your negativity and have no respect for you or your opinion.

ooohooh, i can add that to my list.
My class once did the wave in my english class. The wave can be done in many locations...some places though it shouldn;t be done. I think for a show like Spelling Bee it depends whos in the audience for that night because you really are at a comedy. If everyone was having a good time then sure! do it! that's why you are at the theatre...to have a good time.
Can I do the wave at Spamalot? Or DRS? Or The Odd Couple? Because those are comedies too.

yes liotte, you can.
I go to the theater to have a good time. I had a good time at The Most Happy Fella at Lincoln Center, that's a comedy. Can I do the wave there?
Did they accidentally slap you in the face when they were doing the wave or something??? You seem very very mad over this.

Absolutely.
you could also do the wave at Doubt, The Laramie Project and Macbeth.
ETA Liotte, you're like those people who get pissed at movies when people talk in the theatre before the film starts.
Liotte, you can do the wave anywhere you want. If someone doesn't like it, they should tell you so. Then you can decide if you're going to keep annoying them or adjust your behavior.
Frankly, I think you should do the wave somewhere like the Opera. That'll really stir things up.

ooh, penny, good suggestion. Thats one that i hadn't thought about.
A friend of mine was there and caught the wave in full swing. Liotte is in the front, clearly not amused.
Emo, I'm mad that I have been attacked in this thread- about my personality, likes, theater-going habits, and what I deem inappropriate behavior at the theater. I am trying to find out how people can justify kids doing the wave at a Broadway show.
I have never met ZONEACE, and hope never to meet him. However, he comments about me as though he knows me, doesn't care about offending me (and has, and then states that he doesn't care about it, and starts a brand new thread on the OT board just to talk about it some more), and just continues to sound like an idiot.
Miss P, you know very well that I would never actually do anything of the sort! I actually respect the theater and act in a mature manner when I am attending a show. Now a Yankees game, that's a totally different story!
