Theatre/opera glasses

I have just bought tickets for three tall women. Firstly, if anyone has seen it, I'd love to hear your thoughts (without spoiling the play's story as I haven't seen or read it before).

Secondly, because there were so few tickets left for the only date I could make it, I'm sat on the back row. I bought a pair of opera/theatre glasses in case I can't see much but I'm wondering if that is frowned upon or considered 'snooty' or posh or whatever. I don't want to look stupid but I would also like to see what is going on. Any thoughts?

You can do as you please.  I've seen many people use opera glasses/binoculars on Broadway and no one cares.  As long as you don't hold them up over your head when you're not using them, no one will even notice nor care.

Thanks, glad to hear others use them too! :)

Most of the people here seem to have loved it.  Search to find the other threads about it.

And I agree: use 'em if you like 'em!

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Also, you'll be pleased to know that the Golden Theater is one of Broadway's smallest and your view will be fine - though you still may enjoy using the glasses to see actors' facial expressions etc...

You're in for a treat!  One of the best plays I've seen in a long, long time!

I sat in last row of the mezzanine, brought my opera glasses (no one cares-I often bring them), used them a few times, but really didn't need them-just got in the way of enjoying the interplay of the trio. As others have mentioned, the Golden is one of the smallest theaters and, for me, everything (including facial expressions) projected to the literal back of the house. Other threads extrapolate about the gift this show is--but don't read to much, just go and enjoy.

From the seating plan it looked quite big, so I'm glad to hear it's smaller (or one of the smallest!) I'm trying to avoid reading too many reviews because I'd like to see it without knowing anything about it. But also relieving to hear it lives up to the few reviews I have read. Most of them were just praising Glenda Jackson (as one should).

I might use them for a characters monologue or something. Maybe just if I want to see facial expressions but after reading the comments, it doesn't seem like I'll need them :)

Thanks everyone :)
