Looking for suggestions to take a 7 year old.   Think Harry Potter will be too long.  Beetlejuice is recommending 10 and up.  Hoping for something besides Aladdin or Lion King.

I saw the original Bob Fosse 1972 Broadway production of PIPPIN at age 7.  Lots of sexy stuff.  I saw THE EXORCIST the following year at age 8 and slept with no issues.  Hopefully your 7 year old was as savvy as I was.

My nieces enjoyed Wicked, and the reviews look good.

If the 7 year old is a big Harry Potter fan I would think he or she will be fine. It is now in one part. I saw it when it was in two parts and it seemed to fly by.

I started taking my grandchildren to the theater when each of them reached the age of 5. GAZILLION BUBBLE SHOW was always the first one because it's only an hour long and they loved it.

I took my granddaughter to WEST SIDE STORY when she was 5. She's 17 now and the show remains her favorite.

Into The Woods (If you can get a ticket)

The idea is to work and to experiment. Some things will be creatively successful, some things will succeed at the box office, and some things will only - which is the biggest only - teach you things that see the future. And they're probably as valuable as any of your successes. -Harold Prince

While I get you are hoping for something other than Aladdin or Lion King, I am thinking the 7 year old would love either one of those. I get it if you have seen them already yourself, but those are the most age appropriate - although you know the 7 year old best. I was taken to a ton of shows that many wouldn’t consider age appropriate and love them.

Other possibilities would be Harry Potter (I never saw but the rest of my family saw it when it was in 2 parts, so being one part now might make it better for a younger child), Wicked, perhaps Six?

I wouldn't worry that HP is 3.5 hours. Go see it! When I went with my teen last year, the show had, mildly put, the most relaxed audience. If your 7 year old accidentally makes a chocolate bar wrap noise, sips his juice too loud or gets a little restless in his seat, it won't be even noticed, most likely.
