i didnt like Harris' stunt and I have no opinion on whatever reason people have for disliking Rebeck but this piece in the NYT is well written, thoughtful and makes good points.

Not a fan of her writing, but I think she brings up some interesting points regarding race vs. gender.

I'm of two minds. Yes, she's said some ridiculous stuff in the past, but this article is actually pretty nuanced and on-point.

I didn't know until I read this post that Rebeck has said some TERFy stuff, but I did agree with the article.

I was especially shocked by the part about the Best Play Tony going to only 4 women in history.

The Pulitzer's have been doing a pretty great job with recognizing women and people of color with their awards. The last time a white guy won the award was Bruce Norris for Clybourne Park. In that time for the Tony's? All winners have been male, and only one (Matthew Lopez for The Inheritance) is nonwhite.

"TERF" has become a somewhat hot-button word and I'm not sure it's fair to lump Rebeck in with that group. Her comments in that Facebook group were inflammatory for sure but I think to completely shut down anyone who brings up these kinds of issues is not really helping the situation. Empathy needs to go both ways. She's been a woman for 63 years and understandably is confused by those who were a man for say, twenty years and have been a woman for three saying "we are the same." Gender is complicated. As long as one is respectful, I think it's okay to acknowledge the different journeys people have had and their different opinions.

I read the post. No matter how unfortunate it is, these are the realities. The article has many well-described fine points and opens a painful question
