Let's just get this out of the way, before a zillion threads start. With a national tour ready to start and few (if any) Live at Lincoln Center musicals on DVD, we can be safe to assume Piazza won't get a DVD. So get over it in advance!

They DEFINATELY won't be selling them. It has to do with the rights issues. Live from Lincoln Center is never seen again.

And THAT is why I'm taping as we speak and removing the recordable tab as soon as it's over.

Shoot - I forgot that they wouldn't be selling it - I almost assumed they would - and I taped it right in the middle of a tape after that AFI special last night I didn't get to see. I don't need that saved! Well, at least I can just save the tape till the next 3 hour special that I want to save comes on, I guess...

We don't get it until Sunday, but I have Tivo and Dvd ready to go! This is one of the most stunning stagings I've ever seen. Even if I hate the new cast, I'll still drool at Bart Sher's stunning work.

You can remove a tab to prevent recording? How?

God, this would put me so much more at ease when watching the Tonys and leaving my remote on the floor.

Is it for sure going to be re-broadcast? I was at work and my vcr didn't record act 1 and I got home just in time to start act 2.

I know in the Twin Cities area it's set to broadcast several times over the next couple weeks, so check your local listings.

In the NYC area, it is rebroadcasting Saturday, 1am.

And for anyone with a Tivo that wants to split it onto 2 High Quality DVDs, there's a break around 1:21 for a quick commerical during intermission. Assuming that it's the exact same setup (and there's no reason not to), you can manually record 2 halves.

It will be on eBay I'm sure. They may sell it at the theater or something. I wouldn't be so sure that they won't sell it on DVD. It's a possibility.

Boy,

you might not have tivo, but you've got the internet and you've got BroadwayWorld, and BroadwayWorld is filled with people making their own perfectly legal personal-use recordings of the broadcast, so cheer up -- the odds are that you'll end up with a copy of the show!

Come on, you guys.

If you don't have a DVR, do what I did. Do you remember this thing called the VCR? We used to use them back in the time before DVD players. I had to pull my VCR out from under my bed, blow the dust off and plug it in--and VOILA! It STILL records! re: They Probably Ain't Gonna Sell Piazza on DVD

From the PBS Live at Lincoln Center Website FAQ:

"1. Can I purchase videos of LIVE FROM LINCOLN CENTER programs?
LIVE FROM LINCOLN CENTER programs are not available for purchase. Our programs are cleared for broadcast only, and our agreements with artists, guilds, and unions prohibit us from making them available in any other form.

2. Are LIVE FROM LINCOLN CENTER programs ever re-broadcast?
Local PBS stations can re-broadcast our programs once during the seven days immediately following the live broadcast. Check your local listings for more information."

There are three TVs and three VCRs in my house. No TiVO, no DVR.
