re: This Year's Thanksgiving Parade Performances?

Given the family emphasis, it's weird that there's no "Billy," "13" or "Shrek."

"In the Heights" at least makes sense, as does "The Little Mermaid." "White Christmas" is a no-brainer.

"Hair" is the outlier.

Can anybody tell me how ACE YOUNG is a "heartthrob"???

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little!

Still...if all those performances actually make it to the airwaves, it shoul dbe a pretty good parade, music-wise!

The Disney on Broadway website says that the cast of The Little Mermaid and the cast Mary Poppins will be performing at Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade... Mary Poppins perfomed two years ago though.

Hmm... Is this like the Paid-For air time on the Tony's?

re: This Year's Thanksgiving Parade Performances?

I'd really like to go to the parade this year and see the Broadway performances in person. Can people who have done this before please advise as to what time I should go and where the best place would be to situate myself?

You can't see the Broadway performances in person. Anything you see on television in front of Macy's is reserved for Macy's and probably NBC executives and their families, and maybe other people who are high on the list on both ends. I even heard that they have 36th to 34th street blocked off for media too.

re: This Year's Thanksgiving Parade Performances?

Forgive me, I haven't had time to read through all the posts, but I just saw in the paper today that NBC and CBS will be showing different Broadway performances during their parade coverage.
NBC is featuring performances from THE LITTLE MERMAID, IN THE HEIGHTS, WHITE CHRISTMAS and HAIR.
CBS is having GREASE and MARY POPPINS.
I don't like this. As I'm understanding it, all the performances are happening during the Macy's parade, but the networks have worked out deals to only broadcast some of them? I guess the only way to see all of them "live" is to actually be at the parade.
So most of us will have to either flip back and forth maniacally or set those DVRs!

Yeah, I'm in the same boat as I'll be at the parade, and I have no insider to get me into the seating area. Oh well, not a big deal. I'd rather be at the parade in person than sitting at home just to see the performances.
