I'm worried. For last year's parade, which was held on Nov 22, Playbill.com announced the shows that would be performing Nov 4-7. The only announcement made regarding anything related to Broadway was that Kristen Chenoweth would be singing a song from her new Christmas CD.

Either CBS has decided that it's a waste of airtime to have Broadway shows perform before the parade starts...or the Broadway shows couldn't afford the TV spots due to their economic woes.

Sad. This is the first time in recent memory where there will be no Broadway show performances at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

I'm hearing that LuPone will be on a special float and singing a tune from her soon-to-be-released Christmas album.

It's NBC that includes the Broadway performances, and there will indeed be four Broadway performances, as per usual. They just have not been announced yet. No reason for alarmist hand-wrining.

Whoops! Correct - NBC. (Although CBS does air different performances sometimes)

I predict Billy Elliot, Shrek, White Christmas and In the Heights to perform.

Billy Elliot will do some sort of thing with all three Billys dancing.
Shrek will do the finale or part of Big Bright Beautiful World.
White Christmas will do the medley they did at Broadway on Broadway.
In the Heights will do $96,000.

I'd want ITH to do the title song. We've seen 96,000 at the Tony Awards.

Billy Elliot and Shrek are NOT doing the parade. White Christmas, In the Heights and Little Mermaid are confirmed. I haven't heard a definite on the fourth show, although I had heard 9-to-5, although someone else mentioned Hair on this thread (though that doesn't sound like the type of show the Parade would book).

From inside sources. You can choose to believe it or don't. But the three shows I mentioned are set.

I don't think "9 to 5" is the type of show the parade would book either. It's not exactly family-oriented.

Well, I think you are forgetting about 9-to-5's composer, who I had heard might be a part of the segment.

Be that as it may, 9 to 5 has some pretty foul language and an entire scene that revolves around pot smoking.

The content of the shows doesn't always matter, so long as they have a clean, entertaining number that can be performed. They had Thou Shalt Not in 2001, for god's sake.

Yeah, and on Macy's website, Kristen Chenoweth is definitely confirmed as being in the parade. I guess she'll be on one of the floats. I hope I get to go this year. :)
