Namo;
You will just have to console her.

As she did with "Gypsy", perhaps Corine can start one of her grassroot campaigns to save the show.
This is certainly a call to action!

I was expecting a much larger celebration from Namo.
I must admit, I'm sad to see it go.

Posted: 5/13/04 at 4:45pmCorine is too infatuated with her new love these days to take on such a momentous responsability.

I didn't see Susan Egan. Is it her fault?
(Relax. Just a joke.)

Awww. I always thought that would be a long-lasting musical. I loved it. Sad to see it go
.
anyone think it has anything to do with Sutton being replaced by Susan Egan? X-0

I would think it's an expensive show to keep open...especially with Dixie Carter, Susan Egan and Leslie Uggams in it.
I honestly thought it would run for at least another year or so.

I'm terribly sad ... I really do love Thoroughly Modern Millie. If not the most "WICKED" or "HAIRSPRAY" kind of Broadway show, this production really takes us back to our grass roots in Musical Theatre and helps us remember a time when shows were not built around flying cars, special effects and things that blow up on your face.
This show is such a classic musical production and it really was a heart-warmer. What a great production! It was fun while it lasted ...
Only my opinion ... don't bite!

Posted: 5/13/04 at 5:04pmI saw Susan as Millie and although she played it differently, she is great in the role. Hearing her belt Gimme, Gimme was worth the price of admission alone...

Posted: 5/13/04 at 5:06pmI am sure. I love Susan. By the way she puts on a great cabaret show. I saw here in California . Great song selection. Great patter. And lots of star prescence.

Posted: 5/13/04 at 5:14pmMaybe they are being smart and ending their wonderful run on a high note. Parts of summer can be brutal in NY . Espcially for a long running show.

Posted: 5/13/04 at 5:28pmFor the week of May 3-9, Thoroughly Modern Millie grossed $389,973, playing to 55.1% capacity, which is fairly low for a big musical. Consider that Avenue Q (though obviously, a newer show), did $331,809 in a theatre that is half the size of the Marquis.
