I'm going to miss the show so much! I remember buying my stage seats in March 2007 for a performance in July. It was a night I'll never forget!

"Goodbye Spring Awakneing. <3

Let's hope Nero, or another one of Ducan's projects comes to fruition. And bring Matt Doyle back as soon as possible!"

Amen to that! (Mostly the part about Matt Doyle...)

I will say that I am not a huge fan of the show and that it isn't without flaws. I did enjoy myself when I saw it and I could see the appeal of this show. However, for people asking in this thread about the business side of things let me fill you in. It doesn't matter about the size of the set or things like that. It just wasn't selling tickets period. Clearly not enough for it to keep staying opened. It recouped its losses which technically makes it a hit and anything that they got after that was just extra.

I do love the score to this show even with its nonsensical lyrics. But, your talking to a guy who is a big Phish fan and their songwriter does that with their songs all the time.

I was going to mention the coolkid shout out from Sater as well. I nearly choked.

I loved the show flaws and all, and am sad that it wasn't able to be around longer for future theater goers.

Wait.....was the guy Sater mentioned during the speech Coolkid? The one who told him he didn't know where he'd be right now without Spring Awakening???

Wow! I had no idea Coolkid's first name was Tom! That's so funny he got a shout out.

I saw Sater at intermission, when I was literally wedged against a wall because it was so crowded in the back of the lobby. It was like he was a rock star. There was literally a mob of people around him asking him to sign things. He seemed happy to oblige.

One of the things that impressed me the most about last night was how well behaved the audience was. Walking in to the theater, I was very concerned about whether this was gonna descend into a free for all or not, when I saw mobs of girls just screaming, and people standing on the seats. However, the behavior when the show began was entirely appropriate. Yes, there was loud applause and lots of standing o's, but it was at the appropriate times. Take the beginning, for instance. Huge ovation for the cast as they came out. But, the minute Alexandra started touching her hair, people stopped and sat down. You could hear a PIN DROP as she started singing Mamma Who Bore Me. Throughout the entire show, there was no random shouting like, "I love you Hunter!!!!" or anything like that.

Yeah I saw the matinee and the applause was loud and long but as soon as the attention was supposed to be focused on the show, it went dead silent. I was extremely impressed.

It was a great experience. I'm glad I was there. With the exception of the sobbing..I mean SOBBING girls behind me. They never stopped.

Was that really coolkid that Sater mentioned?

The sobbing, particularly during Moritz' last scene was very, very, loud.

The one thing I didn't like was the two girls onstage in the onstage seats who couldn't sit still and quietly watch the show. They seemed to think the last performance meant sing-along, and they sang along to every song from their seats. They were also bouncing and bopping along to the music.

I agree. It was so loud and over the top during that scene that people up in Mezz were laughing. At one point I whispered that they should take it outside but I don't think they cared.

didn't notice the onstage girls really, but the crying during the suicide was nuts. I laughed, too.

Nice night.

I'm sad to see this show close. It's one I'll always have good memories of. The times I've spent there have been wonderful.

I was there last night and it was an fantastic performance. It was an electric audience, with an encore of Totally F*****. It was like a rock concert.Everyone was spot on. Cristine Estabrook added some extra things during her scenes which has the audience roaring with laughter. Andrew Durand really went to town during "My Junk." Like others said the crying was over the top....I think I was the only one in my row not crying.

It was really great to see the current cast ant the OBC up on stage together.

Overall, one of the best theatre expriences I have had.

Wait, wait, wait. I know absolutely nothing about Spring Awakening, but what's this about Coolkid? I'm confused.

I will dearly miss this show.

schmergy--coolkid is a member of this site who tends to irk other members and is notorious for asking for closing night tickets

"You have two kinds of shows on Broadway – revivals and the same kind of musicals over and over again, all spectacles. You get your tickets for The Lion King a year in advance, and essentially a family... pass on to their children the idea that that's what the theater is – a spectacular musical you see once a year, a stage version of a movie. It has nothing to do with theater at all. It has to do with seeing what is familiar.... I don't think the theatre will die per se, but it's never going to be what it was.... It's a tourist attraction." Stephen Sondheim

Oh, I know who Coolkid is, but I'd like to know what he has to do with the closing performance of SA. What did the posters mean by a 'shout-out' to him?

when Sater gave his speech, he said he spoke to someone at intermission by the name of Tom. Tom thanked him for SA and said he doesnt know what his life would be like witout it..(or something like that).. people are saying that Tom is coolkid.

Playbill.com says Hulce quoted "With So Little to Be Sure Of".

But it says he said it was from the show Anything Can Whistle.

Was this a Hulce mistake or a Playbill typo?
