I was at last night's show, and there's not much to say that hasn't already been said. When Jeff got all choked up on his last line, I wanted to run up there and give him a big hug.
I noticed a few people behind me leaving the theatre during the standing O after "Nine People's Favorite Thing". They must've thought it was the end of the show!
Aw, I'm so proud of those guys. It looks like everyone had a really great time. I absolutely need to see this as soon as possible.
I wish I could've been there.
For those who haven't seen it, here is what Susan had to say about it:

Can I ask what the set is like? I know it's not much, but is it just a bare stage, or have they done something with it?
The set is like an apartment. It's very simple, they've closed down the space a lot - and the set is a bit different than the off-Broadway version. I don't think it was too big or anything like that.
But I really I loved every second of it.
Like some others have said, I have never been in such an insane theatrical performance. Up until this point, the first performance of Xanadu during the strike was the nuttiest show I've been to, but this was just insane.
The changes are welcome additions, but always threw me for a loop. I've been listening to the show for two years now and everytime there was a new lyric or verse I was a little, Wait what? But I think the changes were all good and I just loved the show.
Stage door was crazy. A little too crazy. People kept thinking it was famous celebrities and they were like "what show is this for?" and I said "title of show" and they had no idea what I was talking about.

I am SO proud of them. Even though I don't know them I wish them the best of luck and I am SO PROUD of all of their accomplishments. I hope they sell out that theatre everynight till the end of their run.
BEST WISHES TOS!
Oh...And should I get tickets for a Sept show now?
Speaking of the set...did anyone else who was there notice that on the wall closest to the answering machine, there was a calendar, and the picture was the famous [classy] picture of the two peanuts with top hats? I just thought it was a nice little touch, and very familiar for those of us who read the blog. :)
that stage door is incredible. I'm sure people who didn't know what was going on had no clue who was there. So happy for them.
We just wanted to put our two cents in about last night too. We mean everything has already been said. It was probably the single greatest theatre performance that we have ever attended. The energy from the crowd, and all that the actors were giving...it was like a convergence of all the things good in the world.
All the love and appreciation from both sides...amazing.
And to add in about this being a "theatre geeks" show and that the general public wouldn't get it...we feel that is ENTIRELY untrue.
We took One of our nieces for her HS graduation present. She had no idea she was going to see a show, let along which one, and when we surprised her she was like "What is it?" Doing the normal "Two guys writing a show...writing a show" spiel was all we gave her. We wanted her to experience it as a [tos] Virgin. Now, don't get us wrong, she likes musical theatre, but all she had seen before was Les Miz and Wicked...so that right there is your "general audience." And her knowlege of theatre is basically what she's done in HS productions.
And watching that show, she said it was the best experience of her life. A little ways into it she taps us with a thumbs up! She was laughing along, and wooing with the rest of us "theatre geeks." And she turned to me after "9 Favorite Things," during the ovation, unbelieving and experiencing joy and awe, as we all were, at the cast.
This show transcends the "theatre geek" audience. Are there references that we love and squeel over that someone might not understand at all? Absolutley. We pooped over all of the "Into the Woods" references.
But at the heart of this show, it touched upon the human expereince and that we can ALL relate too.
Being up front on the barricade we had NO IDEA how many people were actually there until we saw all of these pictures posted.
Wow.

Wow. Was Julia Roberts in the show?
Seriously! I had like 5 or 6 random drunk girls come up to me and this obnoxious family who thought the crowd was gathered for some major celebrity.
PS - maybe I'm just not in the know, but anyone who could see her know who was the older woman who was sitting in the barricades and got a lot of lovin' from the cast and everybody else?

I'm cracking up right now, because in the picture of the guys in supertossers t-shirts who came over from Paris, the guy on the right was my French professor. I totally just checked to see if he was teaching this coming semester. lol.
I had a dream about [title of show] last night.
I went to the show, and loved it. Then, at the end (for some weird reason), they called me up on stage for the finale (which was not the actual finale of [title of show].)
After, I went to the stage door, but realized I had lost my cell phone. Luckily, Sutton Foster was there, and she helped me find it. She was very nice, actually.
The strangest dream I've ever had, but also one of the best.
Here are photos from the first preview!

just SO excited to see this show next Saturday!!!!!!
WBAF- I see a friend of mine in the picture you posted.
BenKaye, when you exit the theater go to the right and go through the set of glass doors (the hallway behind the Virgin Megastore) on your right onto 46th street and make a right. The stage door is the first doorway past the parking garage on your right.
I wish I had known that on Sunday.
I didn't go to the first preview but I was at the matinee the next day. Absolutely loved it.
