I was joking. Just so everyone is aware.

I actually have no interest in seeing this.

Maybe I will see this. After visiting the website, it seems a little more exciting than I thought it had looked before.

The nudity lasts .3 seconds and you can barely see anything.

You should go see it. You're missing out.

it's so funny how so many people with similar views can be so torn on such a piece like this. i really did love Little Dog with such scathing guilty pleasure. i concur that i would buy the text if they published it just for the zingers.

the only one i wasn't really as impressed with was Tom Everet Scott. i felt like he was just walking through his role when i saw it and he bored me a bit. luckily Julie comes in and shakes things up every so often to keep me in stitches.

i loved her Breakfast At Tiffany's synopsis. "and then out of nowhere...Mickey Rooney!" re: Thoughts on 'The Little Dog Laughed?'

She's absolutely brilliant. I can't imagine anyone else in the role.

I agree, Rath.

I don't care that I haven't seen anyone else yet...I hope she wins the Tony.

And I absolutely love....

The "Moon River" underscoring at the end as White narrates the ending. WONDERFUL.

Just saw this. I enjoyed it although didn't walk out and say WOW!. Julie White was amazing, Tom Everett Scott was boring, didn't care much for Ari ________ (??) and as for Johnny, all I can say is that if I were him, I'd never wear anything below the waste. I'd be too busy showing off.

Full frontal. Both male leads.

Tom totally hides his goods. I've seen it 4 times now, and he makes sure nobody sees anything.

*sigh*

I personally wasn't so impressed with what Galecki was packing, but that's another story.

If the Joan Didion play is any good, Vanessa Redgrave's a shoo-in, but I'm hoping for a Michelle Pawk-like victory for White. "Hollywood Arms" had a similarly short run and the Tony folks still remembered her.

I would love if something similar would happen, but there are a few huge varying factors here. This is Leading Actress while that was Featured Actress. When Pawk won, the competition was miniscule. White will be up against Redgrave, Lansbury and Seldes. It will be a *very* tough group to beat, but if she does win by some miracle, I'll be jumping for joy.

I usually am not so invested unless I'm involved in a nominated production or have friends nominated, but I'm telling you, if she wins, there WILL be screaming coming from my apt.

Julie White = Goddess.

I was not impressed by Ari or Tom, though. Boo.

I saw LITTLE DOG LAUGHED yesterday afternoon.

Yes, Julie White is very, very good, but the rest of the play left much to be desired. I kept getting involved in the gay love story being told, only to have it interrupted by Julie White's character time and again.

Although the ending is probably true to our times, I was rooting for the two gay men to be true to their feelings for each other and act upon them. It would have meant that the characters had grown in their self discovery. Then again, there are those who might argue that it would tack a Hollywood ending onto the story.

Hey, wait...the play DOES have a Hollywood ending as it stands!

Julie White is the best part of this show - she should bring "Bad Dates" (by Teresa Rebeck) to Broadway. She came through Dallas in this show and I was captivated from beginning to end - just Julie and a thousand pairs of shoes!

Foster, from my vantage point, when Tom goes to take off his sweatpants, while you can only see him from behind, I got a decent look at his "hangers" and I enjoyed that!

It definitely depends where you're sitting. I saw Tom's...stuff.

Same with Johnny - depending where you're sitting, you can get a long look - no pun intended.

well, I finally gave in to peer pressure and bought a ticket to this play.

I absolutely loved every minute of it! I thought all the actors were excellent--and Julie White is a f***ing revelation. I am so freaking inspired by her performance, which was a masterclass. I agree that she deserves the kind of praise Ms. Ebersole has been getting. both women are astonishing. this will be a great year for women in theatre (and film) and I would be thrilled if Ms. White won the Tony.

I thought the play was excellent. it was painfully funny and beautifully poignant. I think Beane did a brilliant job tackling this subject. the negative comments I have heard about this play remind me of the tired dismissals of Neil Simon's great comedies. when will people realize that comedy is harder than drama?

and, on a prurient note, I, too, saw every inch of both actors and that was just icing on an already delicious cake. Mr. Galecki is ripped! Guh!

I just got back from the play and have to ask, why the hell is this closing?! It was completely brilliant. I'm not much of a play-goer, but I loved every minute of this. Julie White is a force to be reckoned with; I can't even articulate the appreciation I have for the work she does on that stage. Tom Everett Scott left a bit to be desired, for my taste, but Zoe Lister-Jones and Galecki's understudy, Brian Henderson, were both in fine form. I went in knowing absolutely nothing about it and loved it all. I knew I had to see it before it closed, and am devastated that I waited this long to do so, as now I cannot see it again. I am actually fully considering skipping even more classes tomorrow-it has been a bad week- to see the matinee!

I haven't seen any other performances, but please, just hand White the Tony. Now. Thank you.

bbaby, as far as I can tell, there's been little to no marketing on this one. I don't get it. I've said before, you've got two tv stars and a movie star, and all the incredible quotes to pull about White. What's so difficult? I don't get it. Someone really dropped the ball.

I saw this on the last day I was in NYC. I had a lot of options for musicals standing at the TKTS line, but decided that I wanted to see a play instead - and this was closing soon. I loved this show. Julie White was hilarious! Zoe Lister-Jones was a hoot as well. Johnny and Tom were great as well..but I think the women stole the show.

And for Julie White....I smell a Tony!

Rath, I agree about the publicity; the only I things I heard about the play were basically from this board or other theatrically-invested/minded people. It's highly unfortunate that more wasn't done to promote the show, especially in these cruel months of winter.

Hopefully I'll go again tomorrow night, skipping orchestra rehearsal to do so. The viewings are a bit close together, but at this point it is necessary. Also, as I saw Galecki's understudy, if Galecki were on it would be a new viewing experience. I lucked out and bought a ticket- center orch BB- from a woman who needed to sell it; does anyone know where the rush seats are located?

The show doesn't have rush; just $26 balcony seats.

I got TDF for Saturday night's performance, my fifth and last time. Work commitments keep me from attending the final performance, and I'm very perturbed.

Saw the matinee last Saturday. Had a friend with connections so I only paid $3.00. This was one of the worst plays I’ve EVER seen. I walked out at intermission. The three other people I was with stuck it out, but wished they had left with me.

First of all the script was TERRIBLE! Just awful. It was dated, trite, totally predictable with absolutely nothing fresh say. This stale piece of recycled trash would have been tired in 1990.

If the whole point of this wretchedly unentertaining mess was that “show people” are a shallow vicious messed lot; that has been done to death – and done much much better than this.

Everyone raves about White and her amazing performance – I say, “so what!” Yes, she gave a slick and well crafted performance but who cares when we’ve seen this monster/agent character so many times before. Nothing new was done with this character. She was shrill loud and obnoxious. By the scene where the agent and actor sit down with the playwright I was ready to leap out of the balcony – I couldn’t get out of there fast enough.

The rest of the acting was plain awful. What objectives were Galecki playing? The answer to that would be – none. He played vague attitudes and half-hearted emotions, but never committed to one single moment.

Scott wasn’t much better. There was no chemistry between the so-called lovers.
Lister-Jones was just plain annoying.

Wasn’t even worth $3.00 (and that includes the brief gratuitous and over-hyped nudity).

Shocked and amazed this play ever got produced ANYWHERE let alone on Broadway. Must be a total vanity project. Stunned this show has not closed sooner. Maybe sex – and nudity does sell.

HATED IT!
