With every cell phone going off for the National emergency Alert Test today at 2:20 (and reports saying could continue until 2:50), I’d be curious to hear how different matinee shows handle things. Part of me wonders if they’ll hold the curtain for a bit for my show today or make an even more explicit announcement than usual. No doubt a chorus of phones will go off since (I believe) your phone has to be turned off completely in order for them not to get it so I’m guessing every single show will have some sort of audience disruption.

I'm always amazed on how many phones will ring, or people will text while seeing a show.  It's maddening.

I had my phone set on silent at home, and I was surprised that it went off, so I hope they made it explicitly clear to turn phones completely off before the shows, or else I can imagine it was a big problem.

At PURLIE VICTORIOUS, despite 4 announcements between ushers, the God mic, and the typical pre-show announcement, phones were going off continuously every few seconds from 2:18 until 2:25.

Conclusion: The matinee ladies blew the Mute Challenge

I remember last time that some matinees shifted their start time to 2:30.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

ACL2006, I wonder how that would be done?  Do theatres know months and months ahead of time when these alerts will happen - before it's even announced to the general public, to move a start time for 1 particular day?

Not at a show, but both my phone and my son's rec'd the alert.... but neither had ANY sound. Our phones were on.... and not silenced. Very odd.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Alas, it even affected the Lincoln archive this afternoon. Excuse me I know emergencies are important but MUSICALS ARE LIFE SUPPORT. DID ANYONE THINK OF US????

Give me claws and a hunch, just away from this bunch.
