Tom Hewitt In Hadestown

Hey everyone. I have tickets to see Hadestown on October 2nd, and I obviously was shocked to see Tom Hewitt will be playing Hades until the 30th of October. I am not familiar with him, and was wondering if anyone could tell me what to expect. I am mainly concerned because I was hoping to see Patrick, and I want to know if I can expect something similar to Page’s performance. Thanks :)

There will most likely be reopening night threads on these boards for every show that is reopening. On September 2, I can guarantee you will see many first impressions on Hewitt’s Hades.

Tom Hewitt is a wonderfully quirky actor. I will be sure to see him in this. Thanks for the heads up!

He was my first Officer Lockstock and was incredible. I'm considering going to see Hadestown again, earlier than I'd expected to, just to catch him as Hades.

He’s an exceptional actor. I’d actually love to go to see his take on the role. I won’t be able to get there in time. Kind of bummed. He fully commits to character. He’s marvelous. I saw him as Sweeney Todd in Ptown and he was fantastic.

I was able to find a few clips of him singing on YouTube and I was quite impressed! Hard to really make a comparison as he wasn’t singing Hadestown songs but I think he’s a great pick for the role. I’m bummed to miss Patrick when I go in September, but excited to see Tom.
you found your heart but left a part of you behind <3

i'm sure Mr Hewitt will be more than capable in the role. I'm still looking forward to seeing this (re)opening night on the Sept 2nd, but am now planning on attending another performance in December because Mr Page simply owns that stage

Just saw him tonight and thought he was terrific. The whole cast was, (well, almost, as we're not fans of Carney) and we were delighted with the show. Audienxe was top notch.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I saw him in the show and liked him quite a lot. Patrick Page's voice is much lower, so Tom Hewitt didn't have quite the impact with his first line, but I might actually prefer his singing, because when Patrick Page is an octave down it sounded more like a rumble of words spoken in rhythm rather than actual singing, which made it hard to understand him. I think Tom Hewitt also just has a different energy, I was obsessed with his Chant reprise and I can't quite articulate why.

I totally agree on the topic of Hewitt's Chant (Reprise). He really went for it in that scene.

I've seen both Tom and Patrick and personally preferred Tom! I personally preferred the songs an octave up.

I’ve only seen Patrick and would love to see Tom. I actually just won the Hadestown lottery for tomorrow’s matinee. But I’m not sure I’ll be able to go.
