Tony 2014 - winner predictions

Forgive me if this exists somewhere else. I searched for it but only came up with predictions for production numbers on the telecast and then predictions for nominations. As far as I can tell, no one has created a page to guess who will actually win.

So...I'm going to venture my guesses as of right this moment. These are all based on who I THINK will win, not who I want to win. And as I started to try to make guesses I realized just how insanely tough almost every category is to call this year. I think I'm confident on only two of these: Iglehart and the Act One set. Everyone else? Shots in the dark. So if you totally disagree, I very much understand. All the more reason to make your picks known.

As beloved as Danny Burstein is, James Monroe Iglehart has this one in the bag.

I am sure several of these predictions will change once the critics announce their choices.

I sincerely hope Audra does NOT win. Though her performance is stunning, the technical difference in performing a string of songs and monologues is completely different than sustaining a iconic role such as Amanda. I'm very disappointed that Lady Day is in the play category (mostly because I hate to have to choose between Audra and Cherry). I have to root for Cherry.

In other Menagerie support, I'm really rooting for Brian and Celia. I hope one of them wins!

Touche, Someone. I didn't mean to imply Billie isn't iconic...I should have worded that better. I think I mean that Cherry sort of reinvented an iconic role that has been interpreted many times before. Does that make more sense? Haha

It sure is an exciting Tony year!
