Honestly, Two Strangers was the best musical of the season for me. Smart, sweet, charming as hell, and I loved the score. They like to reward small shows often with that prize, so I hope it goes to them. Clayton didn't do well predicting the Oscars this year, one of the few writers who thought Sinners would win Best Picture, I wouldn't pay too much attention to his picks (I know there os a co-writer as well).

Paulson's survey is arriving first thing tomorrow morning. That will be, as always, the metaphorical Tony dagger (especially for the main categories).

I'll take Two Strangers or The Lost Boys as a winner, both are equally deserving. Not to mention Two Strangers is the only fully original musical of this season.
It's baffling that Schmigadoon that looks like AI slop of all existing musicals that we've seen hundred times before is a front runner.

I can't believe that Schmigadoon would even have a chance at winning honestly because you are spot on with the description: "it looks like AI slop of all existing musicals that we've seen hundred times". I've never left quicker from anything in my life, it was embarrassing and their merch sucks.

Something being “original” doesn’t mean it’s inherently better. Is it great to see original work being produced? Absolutely. Should people vote for an original work just because it’s original? Absolutely not.

If you can't judge each piece on totality of merit and simply view something original as inherently superior, that is called bias.
