A friend and I are throwing a Tony Awards party on Sunday night and are trying to brainstorm food ideas that relate to the nominees/shows from this season. Last year we had Pirates Booty for Peter and the Starcatcher, Chinese Food for The Lyons, Pickles for Newsies, etc so ideas can be literal words or lyrics or more in the spirit of the show.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Well I can tell you that I personally am doing the following:
-I have a local bakery in my town making me "Kinky Boots" cookies.
-I've putting fedoras out and filling them with chips, crackers, etc and stacking up books to put plates, napkins, etc on. (Matilda)
-I'm doing "Pom-Pom Poppers" for "Bring It On". Jalapeno poppers using red/green/yellow peppers so the colors refer back to the show.
-For "Cinderella" I'm doing a pumpkin muffin bite.
-For "Pippin" I'm dishing out some purple cotton candy figured it went with the circus theme.
Honestly, it's going to be junk food and alcohol at my place :).

My friend and I always like to think up food named after the shows (like Legally Blondies and Spring Awakening Rolls in 2007). Here's some of what we have for this year:
The Mystery of Edemame Drood
Golden (Boy) Oreos
Annie-mal Crackers
Hands on a Hamburger
Who's Afraid of Virginia Woo(pie Pies)?
And some drinks:
Vodka and Soda and Mango, it's Spiked (sparkling mango juice with vodka)
Bring it (bourb)On (straight bourbon)
Who's Afraid of Virginia Ham?
The Chips Are Bountiful
Vodka and Soda and Make Sure It's Spiked
The Mystery of Edamame
Pippins
FlAnn
Cicely Tyson Chicken Nuggets
Judith Light Beer
Kinky Beets
Andrea Martinis
Stephanie J. Knox Blocks
Carolee Caramel-o Popcorn Balls
The Testa-Mints of Mary
Douglas Carter Beans
Candy Laupers
Tom Shanks
Hollandaise Taylor
Bertie Carvel Ice Cream
Billy Porterhouse Steak
For Matilda, you must have chocolate cake.
