I am happy that Idina Menzel won. She deserved it.

Tonya Pinkins gave a revolutionary Tour de Force performance. Hands down Pinkins should have won in a realistic, eye opening portrayal with a grace and style that none of the others except maybe Murphy came close to.

The Tony in my opinion should have gone to Tonya Pinkins. If the Tony awards were being held tonight, I believe she would win. CoC was still new and hadn't really found an audience when the awards were aired, but it's found enough of one now and people are starting to realize how special that show and Tonya's performance actually is.

Tonya Pinkins, by all means. I haven't been so moved by a performance in years. I love listening to Idina belt tunes, and I thought she was wonderful in Wicked, but Ms. Pinkins utterly blew me away in Caroline, or Change.

Stephanie wouldve never won and even she knew that
Cheno had a chance, but Idina had the advantage out of the two of them
Donna was good in Wonderful Town, and critics FELL IN LOVE with her to say the least, but out of eight performances, she missed three i believe, the week the Tony voters were in town. So she probably wouldve won but her loss could only be blamed on her sickness
Tonya gives a tour de force performance each and every night, and has missed few shows. She is brilliant as Caroline, but the show itself almost seemed to come to Broadway too late for some of the awards it should have won (in brief: her performance wasnt getting the attention it deserved and half the people watching the Tonys didnt know she was back on Broadway.)
Idina was undoubtedly Tony-worthy and she was the desrving candidate. She missed 4 performances before the Tonys and according to insiders, was phenomenal Tony-voter week.
WAS EXPECTED TO WIN IN MY MIND: TONYA
WHO I WANTED TO WIN: IDINA
So, GO IDINA!!!!

I wish I saw the other actresses in the category, but since I never make it out to the city, thats not possible. But after finally seeing Wicked, I understand why Idina got it. I was rooting for her before cuz she does have an amazing voice. But on stage, wow... so much better than just listening to a cast recording!

Idina was considered the dark horse of the race early on and it was said that she would br overshadowed by Cheno. Tonya, whom I love on the cast recording, I'm sure gives a fine performance. But, I think the Tony Voters rightfully gave the majority of their votes to Idina. She was the crowd favorite from the beginning.

I think Idina deserved it. Dont get my wrong, I love Cheno, and Tonya is amazing, (did not see Murphy) but I have no problem with Idina winning.
Was thinking about this last night after seeing "Caroline or Change" again. I would not have had a problem with "Caroline" winning Best Musical !!

With all due respect to the fine Idina Menzel, it should have been Tonya.

Yeah I was rooting for Stephanie too! I'm glad Idina got it though, I wanted it to be one or the other.

This isn't exactly a Bernadette vs. Marissa argument- that wasn't a 4-way race.
But the fact that Tonya Pinkins made a consistently angry, cranky character so compelling and sympathetic is a minor miracle, in my opinion. She easily outshines Menzel for me, but my opinion on Her Holiness Idina is on record here, I think. :)

There is no 'Marissa vs. Bernadtte" argument, because there is no argument. Marissa was fantastic, but Bernadette was robbed.

I love how AvalonSkysStudios does not include Stephanie D'abruzzo on the list - yes, people were cheering for her!
My 'realistic' choice would have been Tonya, then Donna, but never Idina.

At the time of the Tonys, I saw four of the nominees minus Tonya Pinkins.
My choice was Idina.
I saw CoC, and my choice is now Tonya Pinkins.
Both deserved to win and they were incredible..
My sister said it the best, "To make people happy in Wicked, Idina had to fly as a spectacle. Tonya Pinkins performed Lot's Wife on a bare stage."
Dont get me wrong, I adore Idina and am glad she won, but Tonya was equally brilliant.

Idina could have been sitting on the stage and I think I'd still be happy with her performance
