Wow, what a team! I'm happy they're not bringing in some mega star just to raise ratings that will never be raised. Cheno and Cumming will be a lot of fun!
That is the most ridiculous piece the increasingly out-of-touch Riedel has written.
Maybe Alicia Morton and Kathy Bates can make cameos.

Except most of what is in that "piece" is a quote from an unnamed Producer, who is probably saying what most Broadway executives are feeling right now. Depending on the year, CBS either breaks even or loses money (a few million) on the Tony broadcast. But they suck it up for reasons unbeknownst to me. Why increase the probability of lower ratings by making a move like this? Between Colbert and Corden, they had tremendous opportunity to capitalize and benefit in numerous ways. What a shame.

SUCH a great team! But I hope hosting doesn't wear down on Cheno any more than the show already is. That's a REALLY busy schedule for her! I hope they don't have her singing and dancing too much.
When's the last time a host was also a frontrunner for a major award? That will be interesting.
Hope next year we get Colbert or Corden.

Hugh Jackman when he was in Boy From Oz.
Also, Nathan Lane when he was in The Producers.
Whoever really wrote that Riedel piece has forgotten that Alan Cumming is on the CBS hit show "The Good Wife".
The CBS audience, which is the oldest and most upscale of all broadcast networks, will watch one of their own.

CBS is preparing to abandon the Tony Awards broadcast. Mark my words.
^Is this a threat?!

I'm so excited!
I am happy that they decided to go with two dynamic Broadway actors, instead of *insert famous talk show host here*! It's not like millions upon millions of people were going to tune in, because Colbert and Corden teamed up to make jokes about Broadway shows of the current season, anyway.
