I have to say that I'm embarrassed, that Tony voters get their tickets for free and yet, they are voting and they haven't seen all the shows nominated. You should be ashamed of yourselves!!! The Tonys should be strict about this.

There are over 800 Tony Voters, who live all over the country, and they are not invited to see shows until after nominations are out. This means any category where a show that closed pre-May is in contention can't be voted on by most voters, leaving a small handful of people deciding the award. It was a huge problem last year with some awards only being voted on by an extremely small percentage of the voters. This was their solution. It was a smart choice.

This is 100% not true. Tony voters are invited right after the show opens.

I thought nominators were invited after opening but not Tony voters?

Isn't that the same thing? Tony Voters and Nominators are the same thing, unless I need to take a new English course.

Nominators and Tony voters are two seperate pools. Nominating comitte is roughly 50 people and Tony Voters are around 800.

The voters and nominators are two entirely different groups of people. The nominating committee is a group of about 40-50. Then over 800 actually vote for the awards (I should clarify, a lot of the nominators are voters as well, but there are at least 750 more voters than nominators).
I'm not sure when all the road voters get their tickets, but regardless, as they're busy managing their own theatres throughout the year, it's not feasible for them to take 8-10 trips to New York every year to see every eligible show.
Tony voters are invited to all shows. They were even invited to shows that closed early like KPOP and Ain't No Mo'. The only new rule they implemented this year is that you are allowed to vote in a category in which you missed up to one of the nominations. In recent years, you had to have seen all of the nominees to vote in a category.
