CATS: THE JELLICLE BALL Previews
 Apr 3 2026, 09:40:34 AM

Caught this last night. Thrilling, electric, and so on. Was wondering how this would transfer, and honestly, I think I enjoyed the condensed space more than the sprawling openness of PAC. The energy was through the roof. Guest judges were Jeremy Pope and a current mother of a ballroom house, but I didn't quite catch who.

Of all the genius of this reimagining, I think Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer are one of the highlights of the night. So smartly conceptualized and a joy to wat

Rumor: Edward Albee's THE GOAT, OR WHO IS SYLVIA? Broadway Revival starring Steve Carell and Sarah Paulson

This is coming in January with Sarah Paulson and Pedro Pascal, directed by James Lapine, as confirmed here

The quote:

"Now, Lapine is finishing his second book, following 2021’s “New York Times” bestseller “Putting It Together: How Stephen Sondheim and I Created Sunday in the Park with George.” In January he will direct Edward Albee’s “The Goat” on Broadway starring Pedro Pascal and Sarah Paulson."

I really am quite shocked that they haven't figured out/integrated a stance on audience participation from the get-go. I also don't understand the "It's not the movie!" argument. I've seen the movie, but my experience with Rocky is mainly through the dozens of regional/community productions I've seen (not screenings, not shadow casts, full-on theatre productions). The call-out culture is a huge part of the experience.

I could understand having a

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 2/22/26

Do we have any info on what Oh, Mary!'s breakeven is? I'm sure they're fine as they've weathered these sorts of grosses during Gilpin's run (the most underrated Mary imo), but I'm just curious about the weekly nut.

Total shot in the dark, but maybe our next Mary is Donna Murphy? The first two names Cole ever mentioned before replacements ever came to fruition were Tituss & Donna. It's been a decade since she last been on Broadway with Hello, Dolly, so that tracks. Plus, the show has proven to be a hit without a star name, so they might feel comfortable enough to let her lead it, especially if they cast more starry names around her.

Maybe I'm crazy, but it would make the theatre commun

I think it's most likely that people are conflating the character named "Mary's Husband" and "Mary's Husband's Assistant". Tony has been out this week, Kumail has been on.

I believe it's been that* way from the beginning. It's a cheeky nod to golden age productions, mainly when choreographers began directing. I have a West Side poster that reads "Entire production directed and choreographed by Jerome Robbins."

That number for Six is brutal.

I heard the Chalamet rumor a while ago, and I too did not believe it could happen until I saw he recently attended Oh, Mary and went backstage for a photo op. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but based on a cursory Google search, it doesn't seem like something Chalamet does often, if at all.

Plus, post-Oscars spring through early summer runs are prime time for bigger film/TV folks to take on stage work, i.e. Kieran Culkin, Jean Smart.

I wouldn't be sur

Also, looking at the opening night playbill scan, all four actors are above the title. Has that changed since opening?

ACL2006 said, "feels like I repeat myself about this once a week. but Hilty & Simard should have had Dee Roscioli on & ready as a standby by opening night. they had to know during the Chicago run how demanding both roles would be."

For all we know, they did know and asked for just that. Between the understudies not having proper costumes for months and a standby not being added until months after people had noticed the frequency of absences, it seems the prod

I'm not getting involved here but:

EntrActe, I want to make clear that TikTok you posted is from a fan account. That is not Nicole's official TikTok page. The one from her official account does not include that song.

I'm unsure why anyone would expect Audra to sing this score differently. Mama Rose ain't Billie Holiday.

Moana 2 hits theatres at the end of the month, I assume Cravalho's planned absences are to fulfill press obligations for the movie. Makes sense that Cabret producers would want her in the show during the holiday week.

Horror On Broadway?

I remember Misery starring Bruce Willis & Laurie Metcalf. I ended up in the 3rd row on a whim, the first time I saw Metcalf onstage, and was thrilled by her performance; I was laughing one minute and utterly terrified the next. I was skeptical going in because Bates' Oscar-winning performance was so iconic, but I had forgotten about it by the end. Metcalf was just such a force, totally owned it and made it her own. I never missed anything she did onstage in NY after that.

I just went back to look at Marty's post and the caption was edited and now reads "Victor, Emcee u/s" so maybe I misspoke.

"Will the Emcee/Sally alternates starting in June come from the existing cast's understudies, or should we be expecting 2 new additions?"

I believe they're in-cast. I know Marty Lauter (aka Marcia Marcia Marcia from RuPaul's Drag Race) announced they are the Emcee alternate for Mondays on Instagram when the cast was revealed. They play Victor normally.

Not sure about Sally.
