2026 Tony Winner Predictions Jun 1 2026, 07:47:58 PM
What are we thinking in the design categories? Lighting & set for both plays and musicals, I haven't the slightest. I personally am reminded of Cats: The Jellicle Ball, Death of a Salesman, & The Lost Boys, but that might be because they're the splashiest. I have no real understanding of the ins & outs of the technical craft behind them and what the Tonys usually gravitate towards. (Though I could talk your ear off about any of the main categories)

Spring Awakening Revival @ Studio Seaview??? May 31 2026, 05:38:51 PM
I think people are interpreting all-star casting as A-listers, but it's important to note that he also refers to Little Shop using all-star casting. With all due respect to those performers, they do get some theatre-known talent and smaller stars with followings, but hardly any marquee names.

CATS: THE JELLICLE BALL Reviews May 28 2026, 12:01:40 PM
Also, RuPaul was the guest on The View today, meaning he's in NYC.....has Ru been a guest judge yet? Seems like a no-brainer.

CATS: THE JELLICLE BALL Reviews May 21 2026, 08:26:04 PM
I saw this again last week, and I can not overstate how brilliant Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer are in this production. In my opinion, it is the crown jewel of this show. Perfectly performed, makes so much sense dramaturgically, and god, it's just so damn fun. Dava Huesca, Baby Byrne, Jonathan Burke, & Primo are doing such excellent work.

DEATH BECOMES HER To Close on Broadway June 28, 2026 May 18 2026, 11:06:56 AM
Ugh, this show was such a guilty pleasure. I'm sad to see how fast it fell.

Was Lea always scheduled off tonight, or is that a new development? Telecharge has an alert on the ticketing page saying she's out.

Also, realistically, would Idina be able to sing Helen 7 times a week? Not even trying to be shady, voices age.

CATS: THE JELLICLE BALL Review - 1 Minute Critic May 4 2026, 12:32:15 PM
Cis women have been walking categories since, at least, the early 90s. Ballroom is really expansive and inclusive, and as long as you're talented, an ally, and respectful of the culture, most won't have a problem. For example, Baby Byrne (who plays Victoria) has been walking balls long before The Jellicle Ball was conceived.

CATS: THE JELLICLE BALL Review - 1 Minute Critic May 3 2026, 04:43:03 PM
They do have a performance on Tuesday. TDF offered free membership to any graduating senior in the NYC school system, and anyone who signed up was entered into a raffle for tickets to Tuesday's performance. I think it's really cool they did this, but I understand your sentiment. I would have absolutely bought a ticket if it were a regular public performance. Happy they'll have a young, enthusiastic audience on such a celebratory day, though!

Megan posted on Instagram that her final performance is now May 1. Originally, she was slated to play through May 17.

CATS: THE JELLICLE BALL Previews Apr 3 2026, 09:40:34 AM
Caught this last night. Thrilling, electric, and so on. Was wondering how this would transfer, and honestly, I think I enjoyed the condensed space more than the sprawling openness of PAC. The energy was through the roof. Guest judges were Jeremy Pope and a current mother of a ballroom house, but I didn't quite catch who.
Of all the genius of this reimagining, I think Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer are one of the highlights of the night. So smartly conceptualized and a joy to wat

Rumor: Edward Albee's THE GOAT, OR WHO IS SYLVIA? Broadway Revival starring Steve Carell and Sarah Paulson Mar 31 2026, 12:20:18 PM
This is coming in January with Sarah Paulson and Pedro Pascal, directed by James Lapine, as confirmed here
The quote:
"Now, Lapine is finishing his second book, following 2021’s “New York Times” bestseller “Putting It Together: How Stephen Sondheim and I Created Sunday in the Park with George.” In January he will direct Edward Albee’s “The Goat” on Broadway starring Pedro Pascal and Sarah Paulson."

The Rocky Horror Show Playbill Design Mar 23 2026, 04:17:32 PM
I really am quite shocked that they haven't figured out/integrated a stance on audience participation from the get-go. I also don't understand the "It's not the movie!" argument. I've seen the movie, but my experience with Rocky is mainly through the dozens of regional/community productions I've seen (not screenings, not shadow casts, full-on theatre productions). The call-out culture is a huge part of the experience.
I could understand having a

Do we have any info on what Oh, Mary!'s breakeven is? I'm sure they're fine as they've weathered these sorts of grosses during Gilpin's run (the most underrated Mary imo), but I'm just curious about the weekly nut.

OH, MARY! Reviews Nov 15 2025, 10:45:56 PM
Total shot in the dark, but maybe our next Mary is Donna Murphy? The first two names Cole ever mentioned before replacements ever came to fruition were Tituss & Donna. It's been a decade since she last been on Broadway with Hello, Dolly, so that tracks. Plus, the show has proven to be a hit without a star name, so they might feel comfortable enough to let her lead it, especially if they cast more starry names around her.
Maybe I'm crazy, but it would make the theatre commun

OH, MARY! Reviews Aug 21 2025, 10:39:38 PM
I think it's most likely that people are conflating the character named "Mary's Husband" and "Mary's Husband's Assistant". Tony has been out this week, Kumail has been on.

theblackumbrella said: "Sorry if it’s been addressed earlier in the thread, but any idea why the directorial credit changed from Directed By to Entire Production Directed By?"
I believe it's been that* way from the beginning. It's a cheeky nod to golden age productions, mainly when choreographers began directing. I have a West Side poster that reads "Entire production directed and choreographed by Jerome Robbins."

Rocky Horror Show Revival Cas Aug 9 2025, 09:15:13 PM
I heard the Chalamet rumor a while ago, and I too did not believe it could happen until I saw he recently attended Oh, Mary and went backstage for a photo op. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but based on a cursory Google search, it doesn't seem like something Chalamet does often, if at all.
Plus, post-Oscars spring through early summer runs are prime time for bigger film/TV folks to take on stage work, i.e. Kieran Culkin, Jean Smart.
I wouldn't be sur
