I know the people on this board are probably more interested in the stage door schedule of Hugh Jackman, the casting of Idina's replacement and that friggin' "Brooklyn" show, but the man was a GENIUS.

Wow. I am so upset to hear this. He was a great lyricist and a legend. Gosh, did he write great lyrics...
Rest in Peace, Fred.

He did amazing work with John Kander, and their shows will continue to affect people even after they both have passed away.
RIP.

This is SUCH a loss to the musical theatre! I hope there will be an appropriate tribute to him with all the people who have performed his incredible body of work. Only fitting.
Liza must be DEVASTATAED.
Many thanks Mr. Ebb for all the listening pleasure your work has given us.

Posted: 9/12/04 at 1:04pmI must say that I will be incredibly angry if CZJ, Renee Zelwegger and Richard Gere don't show this legend the respect he desrerves by going to his funeral, or at least some mermorial. They owe quite a bit to his work.

"Best Wishes" he once wrote me, and I return the wishes, along with thanks for the music.

There's two threads going about this, Al. I wouldn't call that being ignored.
Rest in peace, Mr. Ebb. And thank you for the music.
