Top Ten Non-Northeastern Regional Theatres

What, would you say, are the top 10 regional theatres in the U.S. that are not in the NY, NJ, PA, CT, Massachusettes, Delaware, (Northeastern) area?
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

I would say the Northeast consitutes everything ove Virgina and West Virgina. So VA and WV and everything to the west and below it is what I am asking for.

FYI -- The Kennedy Center isn't really a regional theatre. It's not a member of LORT and really is mainly just a presenting house that's a road stop for national tours, though in the last couple of years it's begun to get back in the business of creating its own productions for the first time since the Roger L Stevens years of the 70s and 80s. (the Sondheim and Tennessee Williams festivals, the upcoming Mame).

Glad to see The Alley made your list, Margo. I saw some great stuff there, and it really kept me going during my long exile.

Why James Black has not become a bigger name than he is, I'll never know.

CapnHook, I posted that just to point out that a few states were missing from your description of what counts as Northeast. I mean, you leave Maryland off but still mention Delaware! re: Top Ten Non-Northeastern Regional Theatres

I would definitely put the Seattle Children's Theatre on this list. They basically world premiere a huge majority of the new children's shows in America, and they do really great work.

Steppenwolf and Goodman....sorry, I am a Chicago boy at heart!
Jack: For your information, most people who meet me do not know that I am gay. Will: Jack, blind and deaf people know you're gay. Dead people know you're gay. Jack: Grace, when you first met me, did you know I was gay? Grace: My dog knew.
