Anyone see Tracie Thoms on MTVs Catfish recently? She wanted a fan researched who created a profile and staged a death to keep interacting with Thoms. Its was interesting to see Thoms confront the fan. It also painted a picture of a sad and lonely theatre fan.
How interesting! I've just started watching that show.
I was really excited for this episode, but it was probably my least favorite episode of the season. It was really boring. No tension or real intrigue (I feel like the show loses something when there's not a romantic element), and I don't understand why Thoms would ask MTV for help in uncovering her catfish as see seemed pretty computer-literate compared to the rest of the buffoons that end up on the show.

Every single moment on that show is absolutely fake.
Yeah Joe it is. If you look carefully you can see the mic packs on the supposedly candid and unannounced meeting with the perps. The show is scripted and directed.
Of course it is. If it weren't they'd have to blur out the faces of the culprits. I mean, I'm not sure why someone would sign a waiver saying "Hey show my face as this creeper" but whatever.
The research part is real, but it's public knowledge that the catfish is the one that contacts the producers.
What I didn't understand is why you Tracie would do this - I mean, you give the obsessed fan exactly what they want: the attention of their target, physical contact with them, and even a presence in their home. I mean...yikes. I get that it's publicity, but still - eesh.
I don't know what is or isn't real on the show and I wish I hadn't read some of the replies here - I prefer to be ignorant and enjoy it for the constant trainwreck that it is. lol

I watched the episode and it reeked of free promotion. I think Traci wanted a bit of attention herself.

All reality television is fake. No truly authentic reality television exists.
What I want to know is who the catfish girl started a fan Page for after Tracie? They said it was a Broadway actress named Liz.

She did it for publicity. The "stalker" is probably a out-of-work actor friend of hers. There is absolutely not a shred of "reality" on that show. I would not be surprised if we discovered Nev was a 73 year old Rumanian woman.

Liz Gilles was the other page I have no idea why they blurred it out.
