As has been discussed on this board before (by me, and others), Second Stage's Broadway marketing has been terrible so far. With both Lobby Hero and Straight White Men, they had big stars, and yet barely marketed them. Their names were all in tiny font below the title in alphabetical order with the rest of the cast. Lobby Hero sold pretty well, but it wasn't nearly as much of a hot ticket as it should have been, especially in that tiny house.
Now, I'm not saying that "Armie Hammer in a Tracy Letts play, starring Tracy letts" will be enough to sell The Minutes to the general public. What I'm saying is that I don't think we can use Linda Vista OR Straight White Men as metrics to figure out how well either of those two men's names sell on Broadway. Because both of them were victims, at least in part, of Second Stage's poor marketing.
