Still no theater announced, right? (or did I miss it?)
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
Why would a theatre be announced for this play? There's a new Terrence McNally play, a revival of Of Mice and Men starring James Franco, Neil LaBute's "The Money Shot" and a revival of Lonergan's "This is My Youth" headed toward Broadway and limited theatre availability. Will Eno may be one of our best new playwrights but he isn't a Broadway name...yet. Betting this one will be postponed. Shame that so many straight play houses are occupied by musicals.
Haven't we been hearing about the THIS IS OUR YOUTH revival for three years now? Did anything come from the reading of THE MONEY SHOT back in March?
The Booth, Cort, Longacre, Golden, Marquis (barring renovations), Palace, and Simon are all available for the spring. The Circle in the Square, Broadway, Foxwoods, Lyceum, and Kerr could also end up being available by April as well. RTC needs to fill the American Airlines. There are plenty of available theaters for the spring.
I'd think this show is either headed for The Booth or The Golden.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
RE: This Is Our Youth Cera,Culkin and Hailey Feiffer did a reading this spring that went really well and Phillip Seymour Hoffman has signed on to direct.
And is All the Way, the LBJ play really happening? What about Disgraced? And Estelle Parsons in The Velocity of Autumn. Two Pulitzer Prize winning playwrights with productions looking for theatres. Thank goodness for the Manhattan Theatre Club, which is doing 3 new American plays on Broadway this season.
A lot of the shows you listed haven't been confirmed or even broached. (I don't recall reading anything about The Velocity of Autumn transferring this season or Disgraced. I would not be surprised if MTC picks up Velocity of Autumn for NEXT season.)
All The Way seems more likely than either of those.
Kad-I think The Realistic Joneses is going to happen.
All the Way is and they have a theater. It just hasn't been made public yet.
I think The Realistic Joneses could be a good fit at the Cort-it's a bit larger than the Booth or Golden, giving ample opportunity for selling more tickets. (Fences was there and did very well-so clearly, given the right show, the Cort can be a good venue.) The Longacre is another possibility.
As others have said, ALL THE WAY has a theater booked and should be announcing it in the next week or two.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
