oops sorry.
You know what ABBA and Billy Joel is, right? pick the one with the music you like better.
Neither. Drop that money in the toilet, flush it and watch it spin around. It's more entertaining than both of those shows combined.
Gotta agree with Matt - don't waste the $100 on either one - see something off Broadway or try another show. What others are you already seeing?
MAMMA MIA is fun. It was much better than I expected. I would choose that over MOVIN OUT.
See something else instead.
Give me $100. I'll put on a show for you and you might even get me to sing and dance.
I'd pay $100 for that, Matt! Care to make it a double bill?
I haven't seen Movin' Out, but Mamma Mia's only an enjoyable show if you're an ABBA fan and can get a kick at how they contort the original context of the song. Otherwise, the plot is feeble and cheesy.
OK, Matt - when the show goes on the road to DC, I will host ...
My vote would be Mamma Mia!
at least Mamma Mia has a story that you can understand without having to read 4 pages in the playbill...the songs have also all been arranged into parts to make some great chorus numbers. I didn't want to see mamma mia at all but saw the current touring company in Boston and I thought it was awesome. I still refuse to see movin out. I saw a little of it at Broadway in the Park, they didn't even bring their dancers. Two of my friends went to see it while we were there and said it was good...nothing more, nothing less.
I saw both in June when I was in NY. Movin Out's primary focus is the dancing. It is all modern- choreographed by Twila Tharp. Very complicated and physically challenging. We weren't aware until we went, however, that there is NO dialogue. AT ALL. You are able to follow the plot by reading the notes in the playbill (do this as soon as you sit down!), and the dancing IS truly fantastic, particularly the second act. But the NO DIALOGUE thing threw us in the beginning.
Mamma Mia however, is fun and light and restults in the audience generally having a good time. I loved the music and so did the rest of the audience, judging by their reaction. Both are worth seeing, but if you are not really interested in modern dance, I would go for Mamma Mia. If you are interested however, Movin Out is amazing from that stand point. I disagree with those who thought the Mamma Mia plot was cheesy- I thought it was cute and the writers did a nice job of revolving the plot around good Abba music. Just my opinions!
I haven't even seen Movin Out, but anything's better than Mamma Mia!!!

When are you going and what are you seeing? People here could probably suggest more shows, but we need to know what you are seeing / have seen! lol

I am going at the end of October. Taking my 16 year old daughter. We already have tickets to Wicked which I have seen and which is really great. She has enjoyed Wildhorn shows in the past so we will also see Dracula. We have a slot for one more show. Hate that Aida is closing as I think it is right up her alley.
I am wide open for other suggestions (Mamma Mia and Movin' Out are her ideas).
Thanks

Go see Aida. It's a beautiful show. Your daughter will love it.
This might be your only chance
I would vote for Mama Mia. It's a fun show..

Out of those choices, Movin' Out. But how about looking into Hairspray? That show is always a good time!
Mamma Mia is such a Vegas extravaganza!!...but its fun... Movin' Out is GENIUS piece of theatre!!!! The choreography is so unique and RAW! "Goodnight Siagon" and "Shameless" are worth the ticket price alone!! I've seen it four times on broadway and would LOVE to see it again if i had the chance!
