I love Tyler Maynard, but the way he reads these isn't funny or amusing to me, it's like nails on a chalkboard.
And he should at least not read the person's name... keep it anonymous, sort of like Lamebook... the whole kick is supposed to be the content of the status update, and his delivery of the status to make it sound superficial... in my opinion he's making more of a big deal about who the person is, and making fun of the what they're saying while Seth Rudetsky and the rest of that cast giggle in the background and egg him on.
Facebook isn't open territory for him to do a "Celebrity Autobiography" ripoff... what he's doing is an invasion of privacy.

You post it on the web honey, its fair game.
if you don't want your status's in a video, don't post them. They are just trying to spread some cheer, not hurt anyone. I think you've missed the point.

Posted: 12/8/10 at 12:49amWow, lighten up people! I think it's funny. He read one of my status updates in one of the videos and I don't feel like my privacy has been invaded. I find it quite humorous.

I thought about friending him. Now, I don't know!

Posted: 12/8/10 at 8:48amI agree that this is not funny. I just honestly don't get what's appealing about it. The status/twitter posters do not come of as moronic, shallow and desperate; Maynard does.

Posted: 12/8/10 at 9:27amI don't give a hoot about privacy. All I know is that Maynard has an unusually high tessitura and isn't much of an actor (IMO). These don't land for me.

Actually, Facebook absolutely is completely open territory, and, no, Tyler isn't invading anyone's privacy.
This is 2011. WikiLeaks has ushered in the Age of Transparency.

Of course I know that posting something on Facebook is public. However there CAN still be a level of privacy... not everyone's Facebook page is public and viewable by anyone else. There ARE people who don't add everyone under the sun as their friends, only have a select number of friends, and have their privacy settings adjusted so that only those friends can see what they post on their profiles.
My only problem is with Tyler naming the people by first and last name in his videos. That definitely can be considered an invasion of privacy... this is how bullying and other things start. "Oh, well Tyler Maynard or ____________ mocks people's status updates on Youtube and gets away with it, that kid pissed me off today, guess I can do it to her and get away with it!"
He should at least have the decency to set a good example by sticking to first names or keeping the status updates anonymous.

I agree with Horton. They don't land for me, either.
But Colman Domingo's "Maya Angelou reads Craigs List" does.
Colman IS Maya!

Posted: 12/8/10 at 10:51amsbf, I agree with you. I don't have my page open to the public. It is for friends only. I don't want my comments read with my full name on YouTube.

I don't think it's funny either...just annoying. Then again, I don't much care for Seth Rudetsky or Tyler Maynard.

Tulita - that made me giggle!
Absolutely nothing about this other presentation appeals to me.

I don't find Tyler Maynard particularly funny in any of these videos; if anything, more pathetic.
I thought he was hilarious in Altar Boyz though.
Whenever I hear his name, I always think of him smoking outside of The Little Mermaid stagedoor in his costume.

I couldn't even make it through the first video, that was just terrible. A group of fifteen year olds doing this might find it funny amongst themselves, but only amongst themselves, and only as teenagers.
This definitely gets my vote for lame video of the day.

I think its actually pretty sharp. It really emphasizes the idiotic, mundane and lame nature of statuses and tweets. I think the voice is chosen to be as irritating as the people who think you are interested in the most random thoughts and aspects of their life.
It definitely has a shelf life, but I found it humorous.

His voice in those videos is really irritating. As someone above me said, like nails on a chalkboard.
As far as the privacy, if you're adding people on Facebook whom you don't know, you are putting yourself in a sticky situation, especially if you are posting things that are either offensive or stupid.. or something else.
Although I doubt it was their (the tos cast) intent, I think it's an interesting way of poking fun of people who add strangers on Facebook because of their pseudo-celebrity status.
