There's someone on twitter claiming to be the real Bernadette Peters, they started the account a few ago. I don't know if it really is her but follow if you want twitter.com/RealBP1948
I asked them a question and they responded back but im still not sure its her :-/

Doesn't Twitter verify celebrity accounts?

My vote is that this is NOT her. She's already name-checking her dead husband and Into the Woods? Are we going to get a Mack & Mabel reference and and @Stephen Sondheim before the day is out?


And someone should explain to whomever it is that it's not always "and I."

It would be kinda cool to see a 61 year old Tweeting. Twitter seems to be reaching everybody now a days. I guess it wouldn't shock me if it were her.

It's not. It's like the fake Lauren Bacall account, who channeled a Lauren Bacall trapped in the 40s.

"Bernadette Peters" just happens to have "Into the Woods" running throuh "her" head the first day "she" posts to Twitter.

PRS, the Bacall account is real believe it or not or at least SUPERVISED/APPROVED by her, though I'd venture to say she does do it herself most of the time.

And she IS doing the new Tarantino heroin movie, the first mention of which she posted on her twitter before even nerds like me had heard about it.

Yeah, but I'm following a few people who are celebrities (and I thought fairly well known) who aren't "verified," and I'm pretty sure it's actually them. well, I'm positive it's actually Michael Urie, anyway. I guess anyone could be masquerading as Fran Drescher.

Nope. Miss Peters do NOT have a Facebook, MySpace nor a Twitter account.

She recently stated on LIVE WITH REGIS & KELLY that she does not do any of that when Regis asked her if she 'Twitted' since Kelly Ripa just became obsessed with it recently.

I don't think it's Peters either, but there's definitely celebrities (and "celebrities") on Twitter who aren't verified.

Her "name" is "RealBP1948"...by putting the word 'real' does it for me. If you have to put real in the name, then it's probably too good to be true.

Someone asked Bernadette Peters at the Broadway flea market today if she has a twitter account she said NO. She created an account tonight and said this:
Someone asked me at the Flea market if I have a twitter. I don't. This is the only time ill ever use it. Don't Impersonate.
