What happens to the merchandise that is not sold when a show closes? Is it sold somewhere online? Maybe at a discount? I collect the souvenir programs from the shows I see and I did not get one from Ghost when I was there. Anyone know where I can pick one up?
Thanks

Posted: 8/23/12 at 11:44amA lot of it is sold at the flea market so if you go there in a few weeks you'll find a lot.

Hadn't thought of that. Sadly, I live out of the area and have a show that day and can't leave. But good thing to note for the future.
Any other ideas?

Posted: 8/23/12 at 11:50amTry Playbill.com. Their clearance section normally has merchandise from shows that closed. But I'm not sure if you will have to wait a while first or not...

Posted: 8/23/12 at 12:22pmWhat can one find at this flea market. I've heard and read about it for years, but I've never been able to get there for it. Do they sell actual set pieces and stuff? Are there people out there who have full sets like those weirdos who have the complete Rock-a-fire Explosion show from Showbiz pizza?

Posted: 8/23/12 at 12:31pmChiChi- the flea market is just that- you find a mix of everything from CD's, windowcards, souvenirs, playbills, props, records, baked goods, magazines, books, DVDs & VHS- and some junk thrown in here and there for good measure- I never know what to expect when I go, but I always find lots of fun stuff regardless.

I'd probably end up leaving having mortgaged my house, sold my car and promised the first born child I will never have. And then I'd come home with an Annie set...LOL!!!!
No I would never.

Posted: 8/23/12 at 4:43pmMy personal favorite thing I ever got at the Flea Market was last year. I visited THE ADDAMS FAMILY booth and got "Grandma's Moles". They are much like fake mustaches, but moles instead of mustaches. They have adhesive on the back so you can stick them on and feel "Unwanted, Mocked, and Tolerated" -- just like Grandma Addams.

Posted: 8/24/12 at 12:11pmOur website BroadwayStore.com has a lot of merchandise from recently closed shows, much of it at a discount. Though we no longer have the Ghost program.

At last year's flea market (in which I bought enough stuff I had to have it shipped home) I came dangerously close to buying the "hat" the cast used in the Easter Bonnet competition (see link) in the silent auction. Definitely a one of a kind item. Fortunately, sense prevailed.

They will sell literally anything at the flea market. I remember one year I bought a play that Edward Albee signed for me. I also bought a prop from Legally Blonde. The list of who got the big internship that precipitates Elle singing "So Much Better" at the end of the first act. They had dozens of sheets for sale from every performance.
It's the type of thing the flea market makes you think is a good idea to buy. It all goes to a good cause though.

Posted: 8/25/12 at 12:02pm^ Yes. I think I remember at one table one year people could pay money to have someone's grandmother read them part of The Vagina Monologues. I didn't do that, but it's things like that which make this event a lot of fun.

Marianne, that was my show's table in the 2010 Flea Market (crazy that that was already two years ago). We actually made about $50 bucks from that, and it was our director's grandmother

The flea ,arket is dangerously fun! I went last year for the first time and there was one Playbill I was looking for and found it 5 minutes after I arrived. The next two hours were dangerously fun! I bought a number of items but didn't spend a fortune.

Posted: 8/25/12 at 7:29pm^ The same with me! I made a little list of memorabilia from shows I wanted and I got about a third of it plus more that I found unexpectedly! Getting more money this year so it's going to be extremely dangerous.

Posted: 8/25/12 at 10:48pmWhich raises a good point...kinda like going to the casino, go with a pre-set limit in mind. It's amazing what will seem like a really good idea in the moment. Especially at the live auction {looking away and whistling because none of the stuff I bought last year fits in that category...if you believe that...}

Posted: 8/29/12 at 3:58am^ It's September 23rd this year from 10am-7pm. It's always on 44th street between 8th ave & Broadway and goes into Shubert Alley as well. Though those tables might be in Times Square again this year. Anyone know if that's the case?
