Celeste Holm is due for a comeback. She was spotted attending "Deuce," so obviously, she's being considered as a replacement for this role.

Liz McCartney underwhelms me.

Going with the way Disney seems to want to present this role, I'ma gonna say either Heidi Blickenstaff (the understudy), maybe Andrea McArdle, or maybe even Liz Callaway (She is WAY overdue to make a return)

Had they gone with the original Ursula ideas, Bea Arthur (up for the film), Harvey Fierstien or Emily Skinner (who didn't totally f-up, it was 'creative differences' that replaced her with Kaitlain )

I personally loved Sherie Renee Scott's performance. Her rendition of "Poor Unfortunate Souls" is excellent.

From what I've heard (and I hope I'm wrong), apparently Emily wasn't chosen because of her weight? Which absolutely pisses me off, because she would have totally blown that role out of the water (EW no pun intended). She'd work if they wanted Ursula to be more voluptuous, and she'd also work if they wanted a sexier Ursula, because... hi, she's totally hot.

I always thought that the picture of Deborah Monk on the outside of the Hirschfeld kind of looked like Ursula... I feel like Monk would make it more glam though...

Isn't the word that Emily Skinner wasn't picked because she burn bridges with Disney when she threw her diva fits during her short run in Disney's crappy ON THE RECORD (jealousy issues combined with attendance problems, supposedly)? She did workshop the role, didn't she? I love her deranged, over-the-top version of "Poor Unfortunate Souls" in her live recording with Ripley, it definitely works.
Skinner is quite talented and sexy, indeed.
I still think Testa and Ramirez are the best choices.

Now, see, I heard that once again she was booted from On the Record because of her weight. I don't know the truth to any of these rumors, but I wouldn't be surprised. What kills me is that I read an absolute RAVE review of her in On the Record, they were completely enchanted by her. So what the hell happened? Ugh.

I would also have loved to seen Emily Skinner to the role...she is amazing....does anyone have a copy of her doing POOR UNFORTUNATE SOULS? Would love to hear the whole thing and itunes is not letting me download it for some reason.

In regards to the costumes of Ursula, I wish that it was bigger than life, like it would take up the whole stage or something.

I didn't realize Heidi Blickenstaff was the Ursula understudy. That could work too.
