The tour will start in April in Chicago...
EDIT: "Why would she leave to do a tour" If the producers want her to. But really, her departure hasn't been confirmed yet nor there hasn't be an explanation on why she is leaving.

Posted: 8/9/13 at 4:17amYES PLEASE! Felicia Boswell is pitch perfect and I cannot wait to revisit the show with her in it as Diana Ross. Valisia was great in the role. If i had my druthers and i was in casting it would have Felicia in the first place. I wish Valisia the best in her future endeavors. I am sure she will headline the first national tour.

I don't think it was a vacation the whole time. Just scrolling through her twitter feed, she has been tagged at a lot of events repping Motown recently. For example, on Sept. 16th she was at a Motown event in Chicago, Sept. 20-21 she and Brandon Dixon were in DC performing for the president and at a black caucus convention.
That said, she apparently took a "social media break" from Aug. 7- Sept. 16 too so who knows?!

She came back and played her final show on Oct 5. This time saying she was going to be gone until January. However, I think its a ploy to buy her out. She has been pitchy in the show for a LONG time. And when they hired Felicia Boswell. Valisia this time cleared out her entire dressing. On her last "leave" she left everything and no Marquee photos were changed. This time dressing cleared and Photos changed. So she is gone.
Valisia is the 10th member of the company to be let go/ quit this company. The cast and crew has been jumping ship. The building is just not good.

Posted: 11/25/13 at 9:42pmWhy are people being let go? Did Lekae leave voluntarily? I saw Boswell, and thought she was nothing special acting wise, but her voice was good. Don't see how anyone in that role could possibly be nominated for a Tony, so i'm really curious as to what Lekae did to it that made it noticeable.

Posted: 11/26/13 at 8:32amThe reason given was a personal surgery needed. However she is still singing around town and upon leaving she declined to speak with members of the creative team. So she was definitely let go. Others have left on their own. Morgan James just put in her notice. Sydney Morton gone, Sascha Hutchings gone, Maurice Murphy gone, Arianna Debose gone, Danieil Watts left for a After midnight, lots have just left that show.
